I also strongly recommend to further upgrade your firmware to v 64.68.31 even if your Phaser 6510 may already work fine with 64.59.11. The version 64.59.11(as well as the previous) may produce a memory mgmt issue in some conditions. Enjoy !

Had the same very frustrating issue with my Xerox Phaser 6510. Old firmware. You should perform a firmware upgrade if your firmware is less or equal to XX.52.01 (f.i. 64.40.61) . But pay attention: the automatic software upgrade does not work if your firmware is less then 64.59.11 because the 'old' firmwares do not support the actual encrypted software files as present on the Xerox site. In that case you'll have to download first the Xerox Versalink Firmware Upgrade tool on your client workstation to download the firmware version 64.59.11 to your phaser 6510. Read the manuel first and follow the instructions in the manual <https://www.support.xerox.com/en-us/product/workcentre-6515/content/149399> , set a fix ip for your printer en know your admin pw ;-) . After install on the printer and a few reboots, you should not have the error 016-748 anymore. Good luck !
Ich habe das gleiche Problem mit dem PHASER 6510. XEROX hat immer noch keine Anleitung was genau zu prüfen / zu unternehmen ist. Geschweige denn: Was die Ursache ist. Habe schon mal bei anderen Herstellern nach vergleichbaren Druckern mich umgeschaut: z.B. BROTHER.
Sorry to hear about your frustration. When this happened to my printer in 2019, Xerox sent a technician who couldn't figure it out. Then a 2nd technician came and it took him over an hour to try to fix it -- I believe he changed the HDD INITIALIZE MODE, but I'm sorry that I don't know exactly what the steps are. Anyway, it worked and the printer is still working today. Can you get Xerox to send an on-site technician?
now I'm fed up. Nobody here can explain to me how to reset this error. That can only be a software problem. The Xerox support has no idea and cannot help. I've had enough now and am throwing the printer in the trash. I will never buy a Xerox product again. However, I thank everyone who tried to help me.
