Hi Shervin,
116-399 about the communication with finisher could be from: finisher has no power, finisher software is not good.
D finishers (D1...D5) are used across multiple products and has had lots of variants.
There are a lot of differences between finishers: different boards, punch units, booklet maker, staplers…it is quite hard to compare every part list and every part number.
D1 finisher stapler:
The D2 finisher can also be easily identified by the R5 staple catch tray that is mounted on the front frame below the stapler:
The 4112/4127 machines have the D3, D4 and D5 finishers

The 41xx family)Finisher differences and the best way to distinguish between D3; D4 and D5! The best way to distinguish the D3 from the D4 is to use serial numbers: The D3 serial number range is 352 696401x thru 352 702400x and 352 702401x thru 352 710400x The D4 serial number range is 352 839401x thru 352 847400x and 352 847401x thru 352 855400x The D5 finisher serial number range is: 390 220501x thru 390 235500x. Some other differences and indicators: D3 and D4 finishers differ in subtle ways. The D4 paper path pinch rollers are composed of a softer urethane compound to reduce image scratching, and the booklet maker staple unit has been upgraded. The most distinguishable identification is the shape of the covers. D3 Finisher had no mimic-display. D4/D5 finisher is with mimic-display. An other distinguishing feature between D3 and D4/D5 Finisher is the booklet maker feature. D3 is able to create a 20 sheet 80 gsm booklet and the D4/D5 is able to create a 25 sheet 80 gsm booklet. You are able to identify this at the manufactures plate on the side of the booklet maker staple-head drawer assembly when you slide the drawer out and view the right side of the drawer.D3 is marked as “615” and D4/D5 as “625”. D3 booklet maker staple-head drawer D4/D5 booklet maker staple-head drawer D5 Finisher information: The new finisher name was assigned (the D5) to improve our communications with FX and value chain regarding the enhancements to the D4 Finisher which make the configuration compatible with the SquareFold Trimmer (new PWB with additional connector, and the additional communications cable connected at the upgraded PWBA and coiled behind an access panel at the rear of the machine). The D5 has a new product code and part number to make it distinguishable from the D4 Booklet Maker, primarily to support the two-tier delivery model for the Xerox 700.
Thanks Gabi, I appreciate your help and time. I wanted to click accept as solution, but I do not know why it gives me an error. Anyway, do you think if we order the 4112 main board for the finisher, can we still use the same finisher? Additionally, if you provide me a link that I understand the D1, D2, D3, D4 finisher differences, it would be helpful for my knowledge as well.
Thanks,
Shervin
Hi,
First of all you must be sure the finisher is wright connected, it have it's own power cable, a communication cable and it have a power surge protection ( a on/off switch).
The finishers are not compatible: 4110 use D2 finisher and 4122 use D3, D4, D5 finisher and the software must be installed by a tech with the PWS.
Gabi
Dear Sir/Madam,
I hope you are doing well, When I connect the Booklet finisher(097S03352) to the Xerox 4112 (100S12594), I receive the error code 116-399. So I do appriciate if any one let me know the solution to solve this problem. Additionally I wanted to find the firmaware of the machine but up to now , I have not found it on xerox website.
According to my study, this finisher is for 4110, but I am not sure if we can use it for Xerox 4112 as well ?
Any help or sussgestion in this regard would be greatly valued and appriciated.
Thanks,
Shervin
