We had the same issue printing a client-supplied TTF font to our Xerox Phaser 7800GX using Indesign v14.0.1 on macOS Mojave 10.14.2.
Tried everything; new documents, duplicating pages, IDML export/import, re-installing InDesign, multiple computers, etc. The TTF fonts printed perfectly to other printers, including a Xerox b/w Phaser 3610.
Solution was to convert the TTF files to OTF. Everything is printing correctly using the new font files.
I am having the same issue, but with the Phaser 7760 printing from InDesign cc 2017 with a Mac OS Sierra 10.12.5
You must not have ever worked in an agency. PDF is for final project, sometimes for client proofs, not for working project. Thanks for the input, though. Next printer probably won't be a Xerox.
No, the OS doesn't have the ability.
For that you would need to start designing the jobs in Indesign with the fonts embedded, and preferably start exporting to PDF/x instead of PDF.
Or just use print as image in Acrobat.
This is for Windows. Do you have a solution for Mac OS 10.10?
The HP didn't have resident fonts and sent an image of them to the device.
The Xerox devices have embedded fonts and send the device a reference table, and the printer tries to convert them to resident based. It fails, so you simply have to make a simple driver setting change.
Go to Start > Devices and Printers
right-click the 6700 and go to Printing Preferences > Advanced
change TrueType Font from to Download as Softfont and click Apply > OK
completely close the app you intend to print from, re-open the document and send it, in all likelihood, the issue will be resolved. This would have been how the HP sent them.

Having problems with many fonts, mostly Google trutype fonts, that have always printed to an old HP 3525 printer. See attached images. The first is printed from InDesign to the Phaser 6700; the second from Acrobat (a PDF made from InDesign) to the Phaser; the third from InDesign to an old HP color laser not in use by our department (I got permission to use for troubleshooting purposes). I'm on a mac running 10.10 using Adobe CC 2017 products. Any help would be much appreciated.
