Looking to get my head round something.
If you install the GPD on the print server and this is rolled out to users for all devices.
Assume their are 25 devices that users can choose on the WAN.
Would the user have 25 ‘print queue’ icons within devices and printers. Yes
Or does it just show as one icon with all the different queues inside it? No, Windows will stack drivers pointed at one port, but you can't put multiple ports in one driver
I am trying to understand if the user has to locally install all the printers they need to use or would the GPD know all printers published on the network? The user has to connect to the printer on the server, this can be done manually, or pushed via group policy by an admin. Then whenever a change is made on the server, the change would pass down to the client
Or is the only benefit one driver to manage and the user still adds printers? Pretty much this, but the GPD is updated constantly, native drivers not so much, so the GPD tends to be the preferred driver of most in support.
