hum..
When I tested ()GPD PS 5.303.26) my point and print, without disabling Bi-Di, I get the client to display the correct info onthe paper tray... I only need to choose the paper tray or the paper type from the main menu..
I am aware, that possible I have smaller environment that a product one.. but I can see all snmp through 2 hops.. Assuming the problem is around communication..
I would suggest 2 things:
1.that you open a ticket with our support. They would have the chance to remote to your environment hand have a closer look at it..
2. Give a try at the latest version... but please use it as a test environment to make sure you are appy with it. there is a communication issue resolution.. but not sure would affect your scenario..
Do you think this could be an option for you?
Yes and it works, but then it doesn't communicate the paper trays to the user's desktop. As a result they to navigate a few menus just to select 'Letterhead' for example - versus having the trays auto-populate using Bi-Drectional.
After bi-di is disabled you need to configure the printer model withing GPD configuration.
Driver Properties > ADministration >Configuration >> choose the device model.

So if I do this it should help?
EDIT - I've disabled bi-directional and set the printer model manually server-side. I'll reply if I think it's been fixed
EDIT2 - Well it disables tray papertypes so it's not an acceptable fix. Our users can't see the option to select letterhead/legal/etc. Also it didn't fix one user who had the basic-driver page issue.
So I'm still lost.
How do I go about configuring it for that?
Right now bi-directional is set to "Automatic (Recommended)" in the printer's property page in print management. Should it be disabled?
Hi paulf,
make sure the local instalation of the driver is correctly configured. That the GPD driver is configured to use the correct printer. so that it knows the printer model everytime a connection is done and that its not looking for B-Di to provide the printer features.
Every couple of days our users are finding their GPD PS 3.0 driver is getting corrupted. By which I mean when they hit print, nothing happens. When they go to the properties page instead of seeing the typical Xerox properties with the tray options etc they see this simplified looking 'basic windows' print properties screen that is missing all kinds of options.
The only solution is to delete the driver and reinstall it. However I'm having to do this almost daily for different users, some more than once.
The printers are pushed out via group policy and for the most part work just fine. Just this glitch that happens on a few users here and there.
EDIT - this is on Windows 7 and Vista computers
