How do I print onto blank Tabs stock on my Xerox C60 with EX rip?

To summarize this post. I had to move to Level 2 support and they had a hardware tech come into the shop to try replacing Tray 5 as they suspected a sensor may be faulty. This didn't end up working so level 2 next had the hardware teck re-install the latest software onto the printer, which still did not end up working. Upon follow up with level 2 tech they suggested that perhaps rather than having the software re-installed that the machine should be completely wiped and then reinstall the software.

Despite... instead of fighting further with Tray 5 the hardware tech and I elected to try printing from our tray 6 high capacity feeder. Which ended up working out in the end. I've since printed 2 5-bank tab jobs without issue.

Re-reading. Note that it 'Jams' or calls for a jam on all tab positions. I'm running this job as a 5-cut reverse tab set.

It doesn't disable the sensor, but it does allow it to compensate for it.

The problem with using it here is that it will force the tray to be 8.5*11, not 9*11 (The tab is the .5 inch.)

So you may need to impose an image shift to put the text on the tab, and by the look, you are printing more than just on the tab, so it may look odd.

I checked my settings and currently I have the paper type to Heavyweight 1 and just noticed that there are options for Tabs. I'm now thinking that I sould change that value to Tabs and test again. (Perhaps that setting disables the sensor)?

I'm more of a software guy so jams are a long way off of my specialty.

My guess is that it doesn't jam, it stops and declares a jam, and that it is the 3rd of 5 bank tabs (or whatever the middle is of your banks) and it is caused when a sensor sees the middle tab and thinks the stock is .5 inches farther into the machine than it is (The sensor sees the tab because the sensor is in the middle, the tab isn't there for 4 out of the 5 banks)

I'm not sure if it is something that can be fixed in all honesty, sometimes you get away with it, sometimes you don't. You may have to adjust to Letter size, or run the center tabs as a separate job and skip them on the actual run.

Joe, I'm now at the point where I'm attempting to print onto actual tab stock and not my test stock (didn't have diecut tabs). When I run pages through my C60 the printer jams when the printed tab reaches a certain point in the machine. I have set up my pages for the tabs and am printing a 9x11 page design to a 9x11 sheet? I've attached a picture to show where it jams.

Tray 5, tabs to the left, reverse order tabs (I believe)

It won't let you duplex them if programmed as tab stock because it will cause jams when the tab goes in front. If set as 9*11 hvyweight you may get away with duplexing. Exit doesn't matter at all if you are inserting into the job later.

I have complete control on design for this document and the dividers will have quite a bit of colour on them (and hopefully I can get text aligned properly to print on the tab. I would choose to set up the tabbed pages as 9x11 inch as that just seems so much easier.

I need to produce 50 books and there will be either 2-sets of 5-bank tabs or a custom 10-bank set created. Should I load the stock into Tray 5 and which option should I select for exit. I'd assume I don't want to be 'flipping' the tabbed stocked within the printer.

Entirely depends on what you do in the driver and the file.

If the file is layed out as 9*11 you just print it onto tab stock like the tabs don't exist.

If the file is layed out as Letter you need to turn on Image shift in finishing.

If the tabs are in the job and letter sized you do exceptions with the tab shift enabled
