Re: How does the PCL6 driver paper type translate to machine paper type?

Jump to solution

It is like that in all drivers for FujiXerox printers. There is absolutley no convenient way to go about it.

Coated = Glossy

Tab stock = Pre-cut tabs

But really, they don't match at all

How does the PCL6 driver paper type translate to machine paper type?

Jump to solution
Product Name: Xerox Color C60/C70
Operating System: Windows 10 x64

Driver Version: 5.505.5.0N

The paper types available in the driver do not appear similar on the Xerox device paper type selection.

Scenario: From the PCL6 properties the user selects Other type: Cardstock.

At the device the user loads the media in Tray 5, bypass.

When prompted to confirm paper size and type the user scrolls within Paper type to search for "Cardstock" but does not find it.

Within the Job Status it displays the Paper Type as HW3 only after the user highlights their job and selects Job Progress.

I personally know this translates to Heavyweight 3 but the average user has to seek out their job within Job Status, know to select it and choose Job Progress and then translate the media type twice.  Cardstock = HW3, HW3 = Heavyweight 3.

Why the confusion?  Is there a driver that will reflect exactly what Paper Types are available on the machine without having to translate?  Hopefully I am just missing something.

Thanks.
