The person that I am working who actually has access to the FreeFlow product is not available for a couple of days, so I cannot verify this myself.
I found the following in one of the FreeFlow Manuals and was wondering if this might point me in the correct direction:
Thanks
Randy
I honestly don't think that is possible.
You are probably going to need to speak with a Xerox rep who specializes in the Freeflow DFE by calling in for 2nd level support.Hopefully you have a contract on it, I haven't seen many in the Production class of printer that doesn't.
Thank you for letting me know how to set up the default Paper stock for a queue.
But I am still unclear on something else. Maybe I am not doing a very good job of explaining what we are trying to do, so I will try again.
For now, lets just say that I want to set up 3 different queue names and I have 18 different Paper stocks.
Queue001 will use 6 paper stocks:
These paper stocks will use the following paper stock names (each one is a different form name, color, weight or size combination) and will be expected to be in the indicated paper trays:
Stock-111 - Always loaded in Feeder 01 - Tray 01
Stock-112 - Always loaded in Feeder 01 - Tray 02
Stock-113 - Always loaded in Feeder 01 - Tray 03
Stock-114 - Always loaded in Feeder 01 - Tray 04
Stock-115 - Always loaded in Feeder 02 - Tray 01
Stock-116 - Always loaded in Feeder 02 - Tray 02
Queue002 will use 6 different paper stocks:
These paper stocks will use the following paper stock names (each one is a different form name, color, weight or size combination) and will be expected to be in the indicated paper trays:
Stock-221 - Always loaded in Feeder 01 - Tray 01
Stock-222 - Always loaded in Feeder 01 - Tray 02
Stock-223 - Always loaded in Feeder 01 - Tray 03
Stock-224 - Always loaded in Feeder 01 - Tray 04
Stock-225 - Always loaded in Feeder 02 - Tray 01
Stock-226 - Always loaded in Feeder 02 - Tray 02
Queue003 will use 6 differemt paper stocks:
These paper stocks will use the following paper stock names (each one is a different form name, color, weight or size combination) and will be expected to be in the indicated paper trays:
Stock-331 - Always loaded in Feeder 01 - Tray 01
Stock-332 - Always loaded in Feeder 01 - Tray 02
Stock-333 - Always loaded in Feeder 01 - Tray 03
Stock-334 - Always loaded in Feeder 01 - Tray 04
Stock-335 - Always loaded in Feeder 02 - Tray 01
Stock-336 - Always loaded in Feeder 02 - Tray 02
The PostScript print jobs (possibly hundreds of them) will automatically have the appropriate Queue Name assigned to them (from another Enterprise Print Server) and there will also be codes in the PostScript file which tells the Xerox Nuvera 288 printer automatically which Paper Stock to use for each page of print. So before the operator releases the print jobs to the printer (potentially all of the print jobs for a certain Queue Name), they will have to make sure that the appropriate paper stock is loaded in the correct trays for that particular queue name from this permanent tray assignment list which is permanently tied to a Queue Name.
So when the print jobs for Queue001 run, it will know that it should pull paper from Feeder 01 - Tray 04 if it wants to use paper stock Stock-114. If the operator stops the printer, reloads the paper trays with the appropriate paper stocks and releases some other jobs for Queue Queue003, the printer will know that it can find paper stock Stock-333 in Feeder 01 - Tray 03, and so on. We do not want the printer operator to go in and randomly assigning paper stock to certain paper trays each time we want to print something from a Queue name.
It's this permanent assignment of certain forms to certain paper trays that I want to associate with a certain Queue name (say Queue001) on a permanent basis and another set of tray mappings associated to queue name Queue002, and another set of tray mappings associated to queue name Queue003. etc...
So I am wondering how do I associate this saved Paper Tray Assignment setting name with a certain Queue Name so that the printer operator will always know what forms should be pre-loaded in which paper tray before the release print jobs for one of these 3 print queues?
Thanks
When you create the stock it will then be choosable in the right side of my screenshot. Choose it and it becomes the default for the queue
Thank you for your quick response.
In one of the FreeFlow Print Server manuals, they talk about Saving the Paper Tray settings by doing:
1 Select [Printer] > [Paper Trays...].
2. Program the paper trays for the job you plan to print
3. Select a tray and perform one of the following:
a. Right-click and select [Save Settings...].
b, /sekect [Save Settings...] from the [Tray] menu.
4. Enter a tray settings name in the Name field.
5. Enter any tray settings comments
6. Select [OK] to save your tray settings. If you enter a file name that has been saved previously, a window opens asking if you want to overwrite the file. Select [Yes] to overwrite the file, or [No] to enter a new name.
It's this permanent assignment of certain forms to certain trays that I want to associate with a certain Queue name and another set of tray mappings associated to another queue name, etc....
So I am wondering how do I associate this saved Paper Tray settings with a certain Queue?
And by the way, thank you for the screen shots, they really do help a great deal.
Thanks
Randy
To assign anything to a queue you just go to Queue > Queue manager and right click the one you want and choose Properties > Stock and pick anything you want from the dropdown box. Click on the lock if you want that setting to override anything sent to the queue.
I am relatively new to this forum, so I appologize if this is the wrong place to post this.
We have a Xerox Nuvera 288 pirnter using the FreeFlow software. We are switching over from PCL to PostScript print and this is where I was asked to get involved.
In FreeFlow, I have been able to figure out how to create new Stock Paper forms and how to create a new Queue. Our Nuvera 288 has 6 paper tray feeders that we can load with different Paper stock. Some time ago, before I got involved, someone else set up a paper tray assignment and gave it a name. They were also able to associate that Paper tray assignment with a test queue which had be previously set up.
I am trying to figure out how to set up Queues in FreeFlow and using the Paper Stocks which have already been set up in the Paper Stock library, always have a certain paper tray assignment associated with a certain queue?
I know how to get the commands in the PostScript print file so that the appropriate form gets pulled, so that does not seem to be an issue.
So my main questions are: How do I set up multiple Paper Tray assignments in FreeFlow, give each one a unique name and have the correct Paper Tray Assignment automatically take effect any time that I send any postscript print to that Queue, and if I send print to a different print queue, have the other Paper Tray Assignment associated with that other queue automatically take effect?
Thank you for your time.
Randy
