The fastest possible combination is LPR port, no LPR byte counting, no SNMP, no enable advanced features

This setup has no drawbacks, nothing will go missing, and it is guaranteed to be faster, or as fast, as any other combination.

How is the port setup (Control Panel > Devices & Printers > Right-click on printer > Printer Properties > Ports tab)?

If the one in the list starts WSD you'd be better off changing it to the actual IP address of the machine by clicking 'Add Port' and choosing 'Standard/TCP IP Port' and entering the IP address in.
