Metered ink is used only with machines purchased from Xerox, so if you bought it on Amazon or something it will use non-metered "Sold" supplies.
Didn't see how to ask a new question in this forum, hopefully this is acceptable. I purchased an 8570DN online. How do I tell if it is a metered or non metered unit?
Thank You
Hi
Thank you for using the Xerox forum.
I would suggest that you search for the specific properties of the ink stick at this link.
Hey!
No problem at all, I'm glad I could help :)
Thanks
Thanks for your help Kimzi. You've probably saved me about $500. I wish I could find the "Accepted as Solution" button or menu item.
Heya!
The ink for the 8870 goes for 8k prints and probably have different shapes, which means I would not recommend using those in the 8570 machine. (If you try to shape them urself you will get an error on ur machine that its not the correct wax, I've done it when testing :))
There is a four-pack available for the black one, but not for the color inks.
Metered = is the wax you order for machines with a contract.
Thanks!

I apologize in advance for being a rank newbie with this printer, but so far I have learned that there is a difference between metered and "sold" ink sticks for the 8570DN printer. Several vendors have claimed that the 8570 and 8870 can use the same ink sticks. Is this true, or do I need to purchase 8570-specific ink sticks? Also, are there higher-capacity sticks available than the two-packs good for 4400 pages?
