With the Versant 180, using CWStation 6.8, with printed tabs in the interposer/inserter, won't work. It says it's the wrong size/direction. I told it it's letter size, 9x11, still won't work. I can put them in tray 5, set it as letter size tabs, and it will work. The inserter, interposer will work using it as a copier, with letter size paper in the inserter.
Sending the same file and tabs to a Versant 80 and C75, it will pull tabs into the job like it's supposed to. I select T1 for paper source and leave the others at document settings. I assumed the newer finisher on the V180 should work as well.
I am using CWS 6.8 (newest), the V180 s/w ver 80.35.41, bustled controller v1.2, interposer is an OAE. Do you think we should try an older level CWS? Like 6.2?
You really thought I would come here and ask how to print 2 pages with two tabs!! Anyhow, I'm at a walking distance from Xerox headoffice. I will give them a visit tomorrow and post the solution here for others to benefit from.
I give up, I can't be expected to help if you change the setup, call Xerox, speak to 2nd level support.
"Unless i missunderstood something about the Define Media for Pages(s), this would work if i have a small job but if my pdf file is 2000 pages does that mean i have to list every page in the Define Media for Page(s) separated by comma"
"Thanks for the prompt response Joe.
Say I have 4 page pdf file."
If you have a 2000 page job and want a printer to insert anything you have to define where and when, if you want to print on different media you have to define where and when, or trust Adobe to get it right via their software via "Choose paper source by PDF page size", but that won't work well with stock types, only sizes.

Also it would not let me select 9x11 for tab stock
An insert cannot be printed on, the whole point of an insert is that it is already printed, and you are inserting it into another job you are printing.
Often of use to insert color pages into a BW job, which is printed on a BW printer to reduce cost, and can be used to insert a stock that cannot be fused properly on the device that is being used to print the majority (Magnetic paper for instance)
You just appear to want mixed media (print on more than one stock)
So if your pdf is designed as:
then the print commands in the driver are simple, for simplicity sake, I will use pages 1and 3 as the body of the job, and the driver would reflect that as this
Then we would do the body (8.5*11), which I considered the exception, it isn't an insert because you clearly state you want to print on it, then these would be the settings (You can't choose tray 4 without the Fiery, so you have to choose what is loaded in the tray you want (plain vs tabs)
Non Fiery Fiery
Thanks for the prompt response Joe.
Say I have 4 page pdf file.
Page 1: 9x11 (document size) Tab
Page 2: 8.5x11 page
Page 3: 9x11 (document size) Tab
Page 4: 8.5x11 page
I’m feeding the tabs via tray 5 (bypass)
I want the printer to do the following:
Please advise if possible with Xerox Color C60
Depends on what your settings are, and unless you choose "insert before page 1" then page 1 is just going to use the settings of the job.
An interesting side to this. Because I was using a 25-bank tab set the tabs themselves are small approximately .5" and they didn't feed well via the T1 inserter. I had to put the tabs into the oversize tray 6 for them to run being pulled from the flat binding edge.
Yes, settings apply to the job.
If it was 50 copies of the job you could do an insert after the last page.
Or use Slip sheets.
But the easiest is to combine and do as mentioned.
