Re: Locking down network shared printer to allow only B&W printing

So the 3rd tab is Color Options, I set that to Black & White but still users can adjust when printing from Word/etc.... by clicking on the Options tab in the printer properties itself I found the option to set Black & White only

I was using the WorkCentre 7775 PCL6 driver which was on the disc we got when the printers arrived to be installed. Xerox's site was down the day we got our printers so I couldnt download the latest from the web. Let me give this a try

in the configuration tab of the driver there is a setting "black only" , if you roll out that driver , the clients are not able to use color

with ntfs security on the printer driver you can block the "color" printer for your blawk/white clients

Locking down network shared printer to allow only B&W printing

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

So I have a client who just purchased to Xerox MFP's (previoulsy using some old Toshiba's) As I typically setup these MFP's in a network environment I create two printer shares, 1 Color & the other I choose B&W and disable user's from making this change. I am having an issue where I cannot prevent users from doing this with these Xerox's. Can someone explain to me the best practices for doing this? My server is Windows 2003, and my client machines are Windows 7 x32 machines.
