Allen,
Here is the link to the Sys Admin Guide.
There is an option though the Web Page to Hold all Jobs (page 149).
As for Secure Print, you can set the driver to "Secure Print only" which would gray out all other Job types. But as you stated it is set up at each PC.
The option to enter a code should launch when Secure Print is selected.
I hope this helps.
Thanks. I did see that. Do you know if there's a way, in the printer settings (not on each of the computers which, as I mentioned, include many personal computers that are not managed) to force secure printing either for all jobs or (preferably) for color jobs? Also, when I used that option, it didn't give me any place to put in a PIN of any kind.
Allen,
There is a Secure Print function in the Printer Properties under Job Type. The user will be prompted for the code they make up before sending the job. They will need to enter that code at the device to release their jobs. The jobs are held in the Secure Print Queue in the Jobs App with their netlogin name.
I hope this helps.
As I mentioned in the OP, I know how to keep logged in users from printing in color. I also know how to set it so that logged in users CAN print in color. What I don't see answered is how to have users login so that their print jobs are seen as coming from a logged in user. Or, what can be done so that color jobs are held in a queue on the printer itself and can only be released by logged in (though not necessarily admin) users. When I set it to always queue jobs, it does all jobs. But even then, when I log in on the printer, all I see are that user's jobs...but I don't see a way in the print dialogue box on my computer to log in as any user on the printer so that I see my jobs when I've logged in as that user.
Hello Allen,
I searched the online knowledgebase and found some steps to help you print in color:
I can find numerous answers about how to limit non-logged in users to printing only in Black and White. But, how do you actually log in to print from a computer? I can't find it anywhere in the settings, printer setup or driver software. Is it possible to set it so that when you print in color, it goes to a queue, the user logs into the PRINTER/COPIER itself and then releases the print job? Using a WorkCenter 7830 btw with a mixture of windows and mac machines...many of which are personal computers rather than anything managed by the company. Thanks!
