Re: Mac OS X Sierra & phasor not responding

Jump to solution

This matter is not solved. What worked great under previous Mac OS is now not working under Sierra. Why is Xerox dragging their heels on new drivers? My HP and Canon are working. Does Xerox not want new customers? Is it trying to alienate its existing ones?

Re: Mac OS X Sierra & phasor not responding

I just bought a new iMac in time for Christmas and imagine my surprise when my Xerox Phaser 3160n won't work with it. My HP printer of similar age works great but Xerox still hasn't released the necessary software. I am pondering just throwing the Xerox in the trash and buying a HP laser. Any friends or family asking for advice or technical support will be hearing about this.

Interesting!  I tried to print using a powerbook pro also running Sierra - no luck. But prints fine with old Imac running El Cap. Same network port, same cable.

Implies both sierra systems screwed up.

I already reset print system & reinstalled driver & printers on first imac. However, will try again.  Thanks.

It isn't the driver unless it is corrupted on your Mac. I downloaded it fresh from Xerox.com 5 minutes before I made the post and put it on the same OSX version as you as can be seen in the screenshots.

You will likely have to reset the Mac print system (will delete the other printers too) and possibly manually remove the Xerox print drivers(PPD's) from within the Mac Library. Then reinstall.

Attempted to print from a mac running el capitanon network  - prints!!

Check webpage no errors listed.

Must be the driver.

You have an actual problem with your printer totally unrelated to Mac OSX 10.12.

Open CWIS and see what errors are on it. (Webpage in the printer)

Then assuming there is not an actual printer issue, use Remove all instances currently installed, and switch to HP Jet Direct, which won't have any bi-directional ability, so no message should be possible.

There is no driver for Sierra from Apple or from Xerox.

If you are using the latest driver from Xerox it would be for OSX10.11, there will be issues if you attempt to do so by IPP/Bonjour, so make sure you reinstall it and use an LPD port. And Make sure Apple doesn't decide that the Print With box should be Airprint or Generic PS, it needs to be the Xerox ppd
