It is a separate part, and you CAN have a technician replace it, but you can do it yourself if you're handy with a screwdriver.  The part number for the kit is: 604K48843

Pardon my ignorance but is the Developer part of the Imagining Unit or is it a separate part? Also, is this something that required a technician to replace or can we do it ourselves?

I recommend you to replace the Magenta Developer Housing and the Developer material.

We have now installed the second full magenta toner cartridge (OEM) since we got the machine and the usage is ridiculously high. All three color cartridges were most recently installed on the same day and whereas Cyan and Yellow are at 65%, Magenta is at 30%. We rarely print in color and have the printer set, as a default, to print in b/w only. Thoughts and thank you in advance?
