How do I get a hold of a tech to "unbrick" my machine?

There definitely is a "conspiracy". If you cancel your contract. Xerox will immediately send an update to your copier that will make any extra toner you have incompatible. You will also not be able to use non-metered supplies until you pay to have a tech come out and un-brick your machine. So to pretend like this is just to "protect against faulty warranty claims" is completely disingenuous. And as the other replier stated, all the machines you "OWN outright" will become very expensive paperwights until you agree to pay a fee (ransom) to the company to come in and unbrick all your "owned" machines.

Hi,

The process for converting machine will involved a cost and a visit of Xerox tech to do that.

I know that in metered machines also work sold consumables, but in Sold machines will not work metered consumables.

How do I go about converting my machine to a Non Metered machine.

I have a Xerox Workcentre 4260 that we own out right, however, its still setup for metered.  We want to buy the supplies ourselves.  Any info would be appreciated.

Hi,

No. You cannot convert the toner. Just the machine can be converted and that involved a cost.

Is there a way to convert metered toner to solid?

There is no difference beyond the chip that is in it.

There is no big conspiracy, the only reason there are regions is because of countries/areas that have things like the VAT that make things cost more than they do in areas near them, it puts an end to cross border shopping as it were.(There was a time not too far back where it was cheaper for an Australian to fly to the USA, buy Adobe creative suite, then fly home, for cheaper than buying Creative suite in Australia)

Sold vs metered is just so that Xerox knows if you used a 3rd party toner (Good luck returning a printer for color inconsistency if that is the case) and so that you can't steal from the office and use the toner in your home printer, and I'm sure the marketing types have some fabulous reasons too.

It does occasionally really make things difficult for the end user, but, it is what it is.

The only reason you could have seen a difference is if you compared hi and standard capacity cartridges, or printed a lot more solids on one over the other.

It is not just Xerox, that doesn't make it better of course, but it isn't just Xerox

Dear Joe.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
Thank you for helping us and
when we use the metered toner type in (graphics designe) department
we noticed the yield life of type meter toner had been finished fast than DMO type toner.
My question, is there any change in the toner formulations (DMO / METER)

Thanks

There is no difference except the chip in the cartridge.

There are regions (North America, DMO, Asia Pacific) and there are also Metered vs Sold

Metered is for machines purchased through and serviced by Xerox.

Sold is retail machines purchased from 3rd parties.
