Re: OS X10.11: Docucolor 252 pauses and won't continue!?

Jump to solution

Solved it! How simple can it be... I don't know why I had to do this now but this time, with OSX 10.11 I had to put something into the Queue entry box: DC252_VASTHOUDEN (which is Dutch for HOLD). That solved my problem instantly.

I decided to load the IP in my browser and ended up on the Xerox printer's page. I then went from Job submission to Administration and there I noticed three possible queue options (PRINT, SAVE, HOLD or whatever those are in English) and I decided to see what happened if I entered the EXACT name of the Hold queue into the printer setup field, which in my case was DC252_VASTHOUDEN. Bingo.

BTW I had to use LPD anyway.

Man, it's incredible how long it can take to figure out something so simple... ;)

Bummer. It doesn't work. When I click 'Add' using the Jet option I get a message the printer can't be found. An error. When I use LPD I do not get that message. Big disappointment. I am beginning to think there is some sort of network problem here although the odd thing is the old system has no problem.

Yes, HP Jet direct is a default option in OSX. It is RAW in the Windows world (port 9100)

I am at home in the meantime but I will try this tomorrow the minute I am at work again. However, afaik I only could choose AirPrint, IPP and LPD: I suppose that HP Jet Sockter should be an option amongst those...? What if I don't have that option? But well, I will check this first tomorrow. After spending hours on this in vain I maybe am a bit too anxious to get a solution asap. ;) To be continued.

Thanks for the quick reply btw!

Install it manually to an HP Jet Socket port instead and it will work. (Doesn't allow the paused thing like IPP/LPD)

OS X10.11: Docucolor 252 pauses and won't continue!?

Jump to solution
Product Name: Other - specify product in post

I reinstalled the entire system on two iMacs and at the same time updated everything to 10.11 (El Capitan). I downloaded the most recent driver for our Xerox Docucolor 252 (Freeflow). The driver installer itself won't recognitze the 252 when it tries to find the correct driver but the list of drivers, if you pick one manually, does show the 260 (the driver is for 24#, 25# and 260). Obviously picking the 260 doesn't work so I deleted the printer that the installer installed and manually added the correct printer (Docucolor 252). When you manually add the driver you can choose the 25# driver because the installer does install the correct PPD.

Anyway, the problem is that on BOTH computers every print job is being paused instantly! Whenever I unpause the printer, it goes back to pause within a second. I have one iMac with the old system (10.9) still on it and there the printer works well so it is online and so on.

Does anyone know how I can get this working? The iMacs are useless if we can't print on the Docucolor 252!

BTW I actually and honestly spend around 4,5 hours on this. So this post (I registered just for this) is my last resort...
