Re: PCL XL Error and other weirdness

Hi lwhitworth,

Advanced Printing Features is a Microsoft functionality in the core Microsoft printing system.  It is on by default for almost all printers from every manufacturer.

Thank you,

Glad that the solution has helped others out.  Am trying to get hold of a Xerox tech to see why this is enabled by default when it causes problems!

We had same problem with Xerox Color Cube, your solution works. Thanks!

Believe I have a found a workaround to this.  Everything seems to work (so far) if on the printing preferences advanced tab I set "Advanced Printing Features" to Disabled.

Would be nice to know why this causes issues when enabled, especially as by default the driver has it set to enabled when installed!

Hi all,

We have a WorkCentre 7655 that has been working fine for ages but is now causing some issues.  A user who is running Windows 7 32 bit edition is sending files to print (using the secure print function) - the system is reporting they have spooled fine to the printer - but when they go and release the document they are getting (more often than not) about 16 out of 21 pages (for example) and then a PCL XL Error (Subsystem: Text, InternalError 0x50, Operator: Text, Position: 8564).  I have another document that 9 times out of ten will actually crash the WorkCentre completely and cause it to reboot mid way through printing.

The driver we are using is the latest: "Xerox WorkCentre 7655 rev 2.0 PCL6"

As mentioned the user is running Windows 7 - the printer is shared from a Windows 2003 Server which has the same version of the driver.

Any suggestions from anyone?

Kind regards,

Luke
