Hello JoeJoe,
If you have opened the back door and removed the paper there is not anything else you can do. You may need a service call.
Thanks for getting back to me!
The error message displayed on the screen when I experience the paper jam is "Paper jam in exit area".
The error code is 8-500 (i.e. Jam2 = "Jam In Fuser Exit Area")
I have already tried to follow the instructions in the service manual that I found online (i.e. here:***manual). This is what I did:
- I removed the jammed paper and tried again
- checked the paper guides and they are fine
- Paper is a good quality standard A4 80g which I took from another printer - it is not bent at all
None of the above made any difference - the paper always jams in the same place.
The jammed paper is printed perfectly (upon inspecting it when I relese it manually) - i.e. the printer prints exactly what I ask it to do, it simply jams before exiting.
I have no idea how to proceed with the rest of the instructions provided in the service manual for this error...
Any thoughts?
Hello Joe,
Are you able to get a current Fault Code?
Recently it has developed a fault whereby the paper always jams before exiting the printer into the output tray. The printing on the paer itself is fine, and if I leave the back cover open then the paper exit from there in perfect condition.
The jam always occurs at the vertical section of the media path on the left hand side of the diagram where the blue and red paths merge (***just before exiting the printer (i.e. between the last two blue guide wheels at the end of its path).
I cannot for the life of me work out why the paper does not follow its path and leave the printer...
My suspicion is that the Exit Sensor which is tasked with ensuring that the paper leaves the printer is faulty (see here: ***
Does it look like a possible diagnosis?
It would be a shame to bin it for something that looks relatively easy to solve.
