Hi! If you did contact the support department, can I ask how was this solved? I'm having a similiar issue (jam error that won't clear, no paper jam) with a Phaser 3020 but I'm not in the US and there's no dedicated tech support dept. here. Thanks!

While printing using the bypass tray, I experienced a minor paper jam. Easily cleared the single page from the back of the printer. I cannot clear the error notification. It continuously states there is a "Jam in the Device" and instructs the rear door be opened and paper cleared. There is a red light flashing on the mini screen and no other printing can be done. There is no paper or foriegn debris in the printer. I cannot clear it. I've restarted it several times, left the power off over night, pulled components out of the back and put it back together... I'm stumped! Help??? Anyone???
