Re: Phaser 4600 Ghosting Prints

Jump to solution

Thank you for your suggestion.

However, this does not resolve the issue for me.  This is happening on our whole fleet of Phaser 4600's (50+ units) and having to go around to each and every computer at multiple sites, and make these adjustments is not practical.  There also does not appear to be any configuration utility, on the PC or for download, for making those adjustments for the 4600's as with the 3010's.

In short, it appears to be a result of the Label configuration settings within the machine.  When the supply trays are set to the Label configuration the Ghosting issue appears.  When the settings get set to Plain Paper the ghosing goes away.

Xerox technical support is actually blaming it on the label stock we use - even though I was able to get some basic Avery Laser labels from Office Depot and was able to replicate the issue without a problem.  In essence Xerox support has blown our issue off with the various versions of "it is not our fault", but has given us their blessing to run the machines on a non-optimal configuration because that configuration seems to resolve our issue - running the labels through the machine as if they were plain paper.  No other solution has presented itself to be effective or economical.

I'm sorry. I forgot to mention that it is a Xerox Phaser 3010 printer.

Problem solved. I did the following:

1.Start-All Programs-Xerox Office Printing-Phaser 3010-Printing Setting Utility Xerox Phaser 3010 (enter the menu)
2.Diagnosis (tab) -Clean Developer-Start
3.Diagnosis (tab) -refresh mode (Toner) -Black
4.Printer Maintenance (tab) -Adjust Fuser Plain-entry field (was at 0) - input to + 3-Apply New Settings
4.Printer Maintenance (tab) -Density adjusment-Density adjusment input box (was at 0) -input to + 3-Apply New Settings

Printing is now fantastic. The shadows are gone, and the print is clean, clear and full. Without paleness, blur, dot print etc ..:smileyhappy:

Those have already been replaced, several times with no effect.

Three new fusers and drums have been installed, along with the transfer roller and ALL of the circuit boards have been replaced.  We have attempted all of the avaliable drivers on the Xerox website.  Every internal page that comes from the printer is fine.  However, printing over the network or USB connection comes out with the ghosting issue.  Even the Xerox partner service vendor we are working with has gotten the ghosting prints when they connect their service laptops up to the printer to print their own test pages.  I'm seeing this ghosting issue on nearly 90% of our printers and even our other remote offices, after talking to them, have said that their same Xerox 4600's are ghosting.

The final thing that Xerox is suggesting to our service company that they are sending out a differnt type of toner and a new drum.  If that still does not fix the issue we are then going to request a tech from Xerox examine this issue on site.  This is something that is appearing to be impacting a large percentage of our printer fleet at all of our office locations, which is pushing some 50+ printers.

Hi, ccollins!

An engineer would replace these parts:
• Drum Cartridge
• Transfer Roller
• Fuser
• HVPS

But as you've already done that and the internal page comes out fine, it sounds like there is no issue with the printer itself.

Have you tried printing a few images from the centreware web interface?

Does all the internal pages come out fine?

Best Regards

Kimzi

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

We have a fleet of 20+ Phaser 4600's at one of our locations.  A rough estimate is that a thrird of these printers are ghosting the top portion of the page onto the bottom.  Most of the time the ghosting is minimal and gets over looked.  Most of the time, replacing the Fuser, smart drum or toner resolves the issue.

However, this is the second time that a printer has required signifigant attention.  Through an authorized Xerox service vendor, on an earlier identical incident and this current one, we have repalced the fuser, drum, toner and ALL of the logic boards boards.  The earlier incident seemed to resolve itself after the board replacement, but now is ghosting lightly again.  We have even tried ALL of the appropriate drivers for the printer.  On the earlier issue, and this current one, the service company we are working with had to step through the various hoops required by Xerox and we are still really no closer to a solution.  I'm trying this forum as an additional resource to hopefully resolve this issue.

The printers are configured to print both labels and paper prints.  The ghosting appears on both the labels and paper and on a rather consistant basis.  Though some ghosts are darker than others, from the same machine, it seems like once a machine starts ghosting, it will mostly do that.

Ghosting Conditions:

Test page from the printer = NO Ghost

Test page over network (regardless of the driver installed) = YES Ghost

Test page over netowrk (sending raw test print through powershell and NO drivers installed on the computer) = YES Ghosting

Test page through USB connection (regardless of driver installed) = YES Ghosting
