I wouldn't buy it in your position. Xerox has had lots of time to get a driver ready and have not for 10.12. According to the link I listed, it doesn't even say they have agreed to make one, just that they are evaluating it.
It's been 5 months since publicly available, and 8 months since the beta they could have tested on was released, not a good sign.
Whoops, I inadvertently closed my window on an incomplete reply to you.
Thank you Joe for your help and kind reply.
The printer was advertised as a:
Xerox Phaser 6500N Color Laser Printer - Letter, Legal, 600dpi, up to 24ppm Black & Color, 250-sheet Paper Tray, Ethernet Networking - 6500/N
Item#: 8303301 | Model#: 6500/N
on tigerdirect.com
The link is:
I am leery of buying a printer, unless it is compatible with my current operating system AND the next one that has already been out for almost a year.
So, do you have any further thoughts or suggestions on this Joe?
Are you sure it is a Phaser 5600N? As far as I know there is no such device. (Not in the North American region at least)
There definitely is a Phaser 6500 and it has a 10.11 driver, and it should easily work in 10.12, but there isn't an official driver yet, which would be a bad sign for future development (If they were going to release one they should have long ago)
You can check Xerox.com for drivers, you can check at this link when drivers are, or will be available here.
I was thinking of buying a Phaser 5600N printer.
I am unable to determine for sure that my Mac will print to it, I am running El Capitan, Mac OS X 10.11.6.
I will be upagrading to Sierra shortly, Mac OS X 10.12.
My question is will Xerox provide drivers to support 10.11 AND 10.12?
