Broadband Dynamic Connection causes Phaser to not come out of sleep.

After receiving a replacement printer from Xerox and still finding I had the same issue, I have now discovered if I leave the USB cable permanently connected between the printer and my Windows-10 PC after re-installing all Xerox drivers again, neither my wife’s PC nor my PC have any issues printing like was before when they could not wake the printer other than switching its power off & on which rebooted and recycled it. However we still have this issue with non-wired, Wi-Fi connected devices i.e. phones and iPads. What I have realized is our broadband supplier ‘BT’ supplies us with a Dynamic Connection (i.e. often changes our ip address) as opposed to other suppliers who don’t; if our address is changed when the Phaser is in sleep mode none of the Wi-Fi connected items can wake the printer unless I power cycle the machine. I can live with this but thought it might be of interest to others who may have the same old Xerox issue.

Re: Phaser 6020 not coming out of Powersaver (sleep) mode.

Xerox delivered and installed me a brand new replacement Phaser 6020 (Nov 31st) it has been updated with the latest firmware: 01.06.07.30.23939 yet the issue of randomly not being able to wake unless powered off and rebooted persists.

Hi Joe053204-xrx,

Many thanks for your response it is much appreciated.

Thanks for the firmware update link, however I had already updated its firmware to the same as in this link, especially as its documentation specifically mentioned alleviating the sleep mode issue my printer has.

Re: Phaser 6020 not coming out of Powersaver (sleep) mode.

Hi CherylO-Xerox,

Many thanks for your response it is much appreciated, with regard to “Have you tried pressing the power save button on the control panel?” Well although the PDF user manual on page 23 states:-

>>To exit Power Saver mode manually: On the control panel, press the Power Saver button.<<

The actual machine has no Power Saver button as is stated in its user guide! It only has an ‘OK’ button in the centre of an array of many LED’s plus a WPS and a Cancel button, and I have tried pressing all buttons in various combinations as well as pressing all the LED’s and buttons in various combinations just in case the LED’s could have been buttons as well, but with no luck.

However up to now I have had the Power Saver Mode1 to a number Higher than Power Saver Mode 2. So I will try your suggestion of changing the Power Saver Mode1 to a number less than Power Saver Mode 2. Maybe this will be cure, let’s hope so.

Hi RichardsOffice

Try updating the firmware to the one on this link

It seems to be the fix you need since this is in the release notes:

Re: Phaser 6020 not coming out of Powersaver (sleep) mode.

Hi richardsoffice,

Thank you for using the Support Forum. No, you should not have to power cycle the machine to wake it up.  Have you tried pressing the power save button on the control panel?  Does that work to wake the machine?  Also please try changing the Power Saver Mode1 to a number less than Power Saver Mode 2. For example set mode 1 to 5 minutes and mode 2 to 15 minutes.  If none of this helps please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.

Thanks,

Phaser 6020 not coming out of Powersaver (sleep) mode.

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

My Subject description is not actually correct.

With my new Phaser 6020’s PowerSaver-mode-1 set at 15 minutes and PowerSaver-mode-2 set at 5 minutes the printer will still wake up if sent a print item wirelessly within a few hours of going into PowerSaver-mode, but will not if it has been 8 or more hours since last used.

However if I switch off the mains power to it and then on again it then first goes through its stir the toner and warm up Etc. phase, but I shouldn’t have to do this every time someone want to print something should I?

Can anyone help please?
