My point was that I asked a question on a Xerox support forum and it went unanswered for more than 2 years. This has nothing to do with Gabi. Two years ago I searched and searched and searched for solutions to the problem. If there had been an existing thread with a question and solution I would have posted there, but there wasn't. If this is supposed to be a customer support forum and no one answers for 2 years, then there is a problem with how the forum is monitored. That's all.
And for anyone else who finds themselves here later, yes, replace the defective toner cartridge. That means throwing out $200+ worth of toner.
You realize gabiene wasn't a forum member when you asked the question originally right?
And that because some else (mart) added to your original thread after being so good as to search for an existing thread on the iussue they have before creating another post for the exact same issue, it brought it back up as active for gabiene, who was nice enough to answer it.
WOW! It only took 2 1/2 years for someone to reply. I'd say this forum is pretty useless if that's the best you can do.
Hi,
The solution is to replace the toner/drum cartridge.

Hi, I am having a similar problem with a 6180. Have you or anyone else been able to find the cause and resolve the problem?
Hello - is anyone there who can help?!
I have a Phaser 6180 and just recently started having yellow lines appear on the left side of each print out. They are about 1 inch apart and one inch long. There was a line of yellow showing on the transfer unit as well. (Photo attached.)
The yellow cartridge is half full, and until now has been printing fine.
I also got a message that the transfer unit needed replacing (the impression count on the machine is over 56,000). So I did that today, hoping it would clear up the problem.
However, now the brand new transfer unit has some yellow on it as well and the yellow stripes persist on the print outs. (Photo also attached.)
Finally, not sure if this is related or not, but when I check the supply levels, it says the door is open on the machine. It is not, and that's the only place I see that message.
Suggestions on clearing this up? The yellow toner cartridge is half full and cost a fortune so I don't want to throw it out and have to buy a new one if that's not the issue. And I don't want to damage a brand new transfer unit.
Thanks!
