Re: Phaser 6280 Toner Smear and Jam Problems

Hi JostH,

Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please take a look at the solutions for toner smears.   Also make sure that you are selecting the correct paper type for what you are using.  Lastly make sure that the paper you are using is within the specs for your machine paying particular attention to the weight of the paper.  If this does not help please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.

Thanks,

Phaser 6280 Toner Smear and Jam Problems

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

After a while of good usage our Phaser 6280 has started to present serious print problems.

1. The toner won't adhere to paper when there's a combination of high percentages of colour. It doesn't get printed where it should and ends up lower on the paper. Smaller concentration of ink don't present that much of a problem. Especially photographic images are likely to have a lot of superposed ink layers...see below

2. Printing Black and white works fine, after the second page. Usually the paper jams half way when the printer prints its first page. Then there's a jam, also often at the height of the paper tray. I have to open it, take out the paper and reprint. After that B/W prints work fine...

3. Thinner papers sometimes completely crumple at the height of the fuser. So I have stopped using those altogether..

I already did some research and replaced the fuser but the problem remains. I'm a little desperate. The fuser already cost a fortune (for nothing) and getting a repair from Xerox costs more than the printer.

I didn't change the paper, nor did I change any other settings.

Any advice would be appreciated.
