The Serial Number: YXE126716 (warrenty expired in April, of course)
Total Impressions: 3495 Pgs
Color Impressions: 2919 Pgs
Black Impressions: 576 Pgs
I have tried all of the solutions listed on this thread. I have treid Toner Refreshing all the colors in the admin settings, reset fuser, cleaned the imaging unit & laser lens, shaken the toner cartridges, and auto-calibrated color.
The black is printing as a faded grey and the other colors don't seem very vibrant. We use this in a small business just to print color brochures for mailing.
I just replaced the toner. I am using generic toner on Magenta and Xerox toner on Cyan, Black, and Yellow.
This is the first time I have had to replace the toner, do Xerox printers only last one toner change? I am not paying $299 for service. I might as well get a new printer for that price.
What else can I try?
Hello pedrof34,
I can understand that you are frustrated.
Kimzi suggested trying other listed solutions which seemed to work for others
The support page for 6500 also has many suggestions for similar symptoms.

im having this grey problem. whats the warranty on this thing. ive tried everything on these posts. what a waste of money and time
When the augers run empty the toner in the developer located in the drum empties. When you replace the Drum there is toner in the developer. While it might solve the problem up front I'd be sceptical that it is a solution to the problem but a band Aid fix that might come back.

I bought one of these last June (2013). It has about 150 impressions total. Yes, that is 150 print jobs. This morning, it started to print, then had these black solid lines across the bottom 1/4 or so of the page. I printed again, and the whole page was solid black lines. After doing every option in the "Maintenance Mode" section of the menu, reseating toner, etc, I finally managed to get it to print - faded.
Every page had the same faded problem as described in this thread. My serial number happens to fall in the 125xxx range, as one of the replies on here. In fact, it is 125666. Maybe the "666" at the end should have tipped me off...
I contacted Xeroex about it. It is out of warranty and the only option I was given was a $299 for 1st 30 mins, $69 each $15 mins afterward to have one of their techs look at it. Considering I paid less than that in the first place, no thanks.
If you have a 6500N, look at the serial number. If it falls in the 125xxx range, start searching for a replacement.
Hi, Pedrof!
Please have a read through the whole thread, you will probably find the solution!
The one who posted before you had the imaging unit replaced.
Best Regards
Kimzi
im having this issue also. i replaced the toner and it did not fix the problem.
this suck. what an inconvenience. HELPPPPPPPPPPP
I figured the problem out. I did a serial number check on the 4 units i had and i found that two that had the issues were sequential, the other two that were ok had completely different serial numbers. I called xerox gave them the two serial numbers and they concluded that it was the imaging unit. I was a little sceptical but i installed the 2 new units this morning and both printers are printing like new. The 2 bad serial numbers were YXE125406 & YXE125407 (Maybe it was a defective batch). I found the xerox rep to be very helpful, he diagnosed it straight away and shipped out 2 replacements next day at no charge.
Thanks for the reply. I actually tried switching out a set of the branded toner into the printer that was printing faded but still got the same result afterwards. I also switched the imaging unit and fuser from one of the printers that was working but again still no change. The next step is to call them and probably get a tech out o look at them. Iits really frusrating as the initial quality of the first prints was brilliant, this spurred me on to buy 4 more of these models.
