Re: Phaser 6500 - Super SLOW - Pauses between pages - Mac OS X Yosemite issue?

Thanks. I already placed the order, because 256 MB is still pretty low, but I have an old Mac Mini in a box somewhere that still has and older O/S.

I'll try that with the older driver and see what happens.

Before that ... check this threat. It might be a driver problem.

I just spoke to customer service. It looks as if the problem is that the default memory in this model is only 256MB, which is way too low. I will buy the "Productivity Kit", which adds an additional 512, plus some collation and saved job functionality.

Re: Phaser 6500 - Super SLOW - Pauses between pages - Mac OS X Yosemite issue?

I installed the Mavericks version, then tried it using the built-in PostScript driver.  The speed seemed the same both ways.

Since this is rated at 24 pages per minute, I can't imagine this is normal.  I do a lot of printing, so waiting 30-40 seconds per page is simply not an option.  I'm used to getting 12-14 pages per minute... not 2.

Phaser 6500 - Super SLOW - Pauses between pages - Mac OS X Yosemite issue?

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

I just unpacked my Phaser 6500.  It's replacing a 10 year old Oki C5150n, which was rated at about 12-15 color pages per minute.  The Phaser 6500 claims to be 24 PPM, so I I was hoping to see the Phaser speed up my workflow.  Unfortunately, it's not even close to the speed of my Oki... There's got to be a problem.

When I printed a 14 page Word document, which was mainly B & W, with a color logo on the top, and a small graphic here and there, I expected it to fly out of the printer in under 30 seconds.  Instead, I waited about 40 seconds for the first page to print, then it would stop, and wait another 30 seconds while it said "Processing... IPP", then print another page, another 30 seconds of "Processing... IPP", sometimes followed by "Refreshing".

The bottom line, the print job that used to take just under 1minute on my 10 year old Oki takes well over 7 and a half minutes on the Phaser 6500, in spite of the fact that it's not only rated at nearly twice the speed, but has Gigabit Ethernet instead of 100 Mbps.

There MUST be something wrong.  What can I do to fix this?  Do I need to boost the memory?  Anything.  I'd hate to pack it back up and return it.  My Oki still works, but the one of the drums is scratched.  I'd rather see the scratch than sit there waiting for print jobs.
