Gordon,
Check your paper tray and see if the Front handle of tray 1 is not installed correctly.
Here is a couple pictures attached, showing the issue that can cause the skewing and jams when duplexing.
If this is not the issue,
Test with running a simplex one page job not using the duplex option, and see if you are still having any skewing or jams. If that runs fine. clean the duplex roller, and if same issue. You will need to call in for a service call. Might be a duplexer issue.
Hope this helps
Hello
You may be having a problem with the feed rollers.
There is a KB article that shows how to replace them: http://www.support.xerox.com/support/6500/support/en_US.html?objGUID=8520
I would recommend that you call support so they can validate that replacing the feed rollers is what is required.
Hi Sandy,
Thank you. I opened and double-checked the dujplexer. I restarted the printer and this time noticed something I ahdn';t before.
When a sheet of paper leaves the duplexer, it is a bit cockeyed, veering off to the left. When it is about half-way out of the printer, ti stops with the error message that a jam has occurred. The paper appears to get off track enough to trigger the message, even though it is otherwise being fed out of the printer.
What would cause the paper not to be straight out of the duplexer? Thanks,
Gordon
Hi grose.
Thank you for using the forum.
You might want to check out the knowledgebase for the Phaser 6500.
I found this case that might help you with the jamming in the duplexer.
If that does not resolve your issue you may consider contacting Xerox Support at the following link: Fast Track to the Expert or by phone 1-800-835-6100 U.S. & Canada Mon - Fri 8AM-8PM ET.
If you are outside the USA you should contact the local support center in your area which you can find here:

You may also want to see if any other members in the forum respond with other recommendations that might help.
Hi Everyone,
My Phaser 6500 suddenly started getting jams in the duplexer. Every time I pwer up the printer, the information page that prints jams in the duplexer. It prints the information on side one, pushes out the page and then pulls it back, and then jams in the duplexer.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I'm flummoxed. I'm hoping there's a cleaning procedure or something that will address this.
Thanks,
Gordon
