Try updating the firmware (admittedly grasping at straws here, but it's free)
After that comes money solutions (tech onsite)
The printer was not cloned when it was installed, and the first printer's problems were not related to this one. I resent the NVRam an hour ago, and checked the transfer toner setting after I did, it was at 0. I also had to re calibrate the colors afterwards, so I just finished doing that, and checked the toner transfer settings again - it was at 5!! So resetting the NVRam did not work - any other suggestions?
Going out on a limb here and assuming that the broken printer was cloned and transferred to the new one, which in turn appears to have corrupted it. But even if that isn't the case, there certainly is a serious issue since it is displaying selections that are not actually available in your current firmware.
So the best bet would be to just wipe it out back to the defaults (full data loss)

Poor quality prints on inconsitant basis- dark colors printing very faded - i checked the toner transfer settings and found the machine set to '5' - but the settings only go up to 4 which makes no sense! I changed it back to 4 and prints were somewhat better. A few jobs later, getting poor quality again, rechecked (its under calibrate for paper settings) toner transfer settings, and it was back on 5! Now I have to check each job because it changes by itself all the time. I also have faded colors down the right side of the page - not all the time, very inconsistent and frustrating. The reliability of the machine is questionable - I can not count on good consistant prints. I dont know if the faded color down the side and the toner transfer settings changing/going to 5 (nonexistant setting) are related, but I need help to determine what is causing these issues. This machine was a replacement for a broken one last month!! Any input would be much appreciated!
