Re: Phaser 7500DT / Photoshop CC Original Document Size Issue

Jump to solution

I called Xerox Customer Support. Not sure why I didn't do this in the first place. The problem was the Post Script driver which is not the correct driver to use. They instructed me to download the Xerox PCL5 Global Print Driver which works perfectly. Thank you for all your help none the less.

P.S. I will be happy to mark the accepted solution, give you Kudos, and even send you a tin of cookies when I can actually print my documents!! But at this moment, I still can't print! P.S. I've spent now over 4 hours on the phone with Adobe's technical support, and they've tried everything -- we've rolled back to every version down to CS6 (oldest available for installation through Creative Cloud) and it's still not working with either print driver. P.P.S. Adobe Acrobat has no problem letting me select the appropriate paper size from the print settings and properly updating and reflecting the proper paper size in the print preview and thus printing correctly with the older pre-V4 driver (however V4 still doesn't allow me to specify custom paper size).

Okay, I've now tried with the V4 driver. I also installed the Xerox Print Experience app from the Windows store which does nothing as far as setting paper sizes, etc.

So here I am starting with a new document, 15.75 x 12.25" and the V4 print driver:

008.JPG

009.JPG

010.JPG

011.JPG

012.JPG

013.JPG

014.JPG

This driver doesn't offer an option to select a custom paper size, such as my 15.75 x 12.25" which I have loaded in MPT1 and configured correctly in the printer through the Phaser's onboard interface.

But here's an interesting thing.. When I select a size other than letter, such as SRA3 (even though its incorrect), I get this notification:

015.JPG

.. However, photoshop clearly does NOT specify the document size, and rather, expects the print driver to supply this information, because as you can see here, when I select SRA3 as the paper size in the Xerox print settings, Photoshop updates to an SRA3 print preview:

So the question is, how do I get the V4 driver to recognize my custom paper size I've loaded and configured in the printer?

.. or how do I get the other driver (pre-V4 I guess) to actually provide Photoshop the correct size?

So did you try anything I mentioned in the 2 days since I typed it here or are you just reiterating your original post?

If Photoshop is outputting Letter size we need to know why, and you won't know why until you attempt some troubleshooting. I cannot replicate your issue on mine.

I just tried from my only Windows 10 x64 box and it works with the V4 class driver and the posted one you mention, though there are issues in that one unrelated to this, likely due to the fact it is 7 years older than the OS itself, the V4 class driver in conjunction with the Xerox Print Experience app handles things better.

The GPD is probably the best one though, newest by far, as with all Windows 10 installs that are not using a Class driver, always pick The printer I want wasn't listed or MS will quickly convert the port to WSD and once the PC or printer is rebooted, print will likely fail, and they will also very often convert to the V4 Class driver, which will be limited because like all manufacturers, it needs the app to work fully featured.

This does not solve my problem.

1. I'm on Windows 10 using Adobe Photoshop CC

2. I'm using the P7500Win_PS_x64_English PostScript driver because none of the others even come close to working

3. In photoshop, whatever size it shows in the print preview is what size it will print. If I print with it showing 8.5 x 11, I get an 8.5 x 11" cropped image on my 13 x 18" paper.

4. Every time I open the print settings, my selection for original document size of 13 x 18 is reverted back to 8.5 x 11.

Odd Adobe didn't explain that image size and Canvass size are not the same, and print drivers prefill by image size.

In your Photoshop Window and your Xerox driver you don't have it set to scale (Photoshop is on 100% instead of Scale to fit media,

1.GIF

Driver is on No Scaling > Center )

2.GIF

In both areas, with a document/Canvas size of Letter, that is exactly what you would get, A letter size image dead center on 13*18.

If not a Canvas size issue, then the scale to fit option should work until you can figure out the bidirectional issue in the driver to the application in question.

Export the job to pdf and check in Acrobat what size it shows, I'd guess it will be Letter size, not 13*18, which would take the driver out of the equation for that, if it is 13*18, print the pdf and see if it reverts to Letter, in which case it is the driver.

But Xerox uses a universal driver, so this issue should have came up years ago if it the driver itself is at fault. If you find the driver is at issue and not any of the other things I listed here, try this driver and see if it changes, although I just printed 13*18 using both, the 3.90 driver and the 3.104 driver from Adobe Photoshop CC on Mac OSX 10.12.2 with no issue.

Phaser 7500DT / Photoshop CC Original Document Size Issue

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

I have a document in photoshop that is 13 x 18" @ 300dpi:

ex-a.JPG

When I open the print dialog, it shows 8.5 x 11 in the print preview:

ex-b.JPG

So I click "Print Settings" and it shows the correct paper type selected:

ex-c.JPG

I click the paper drop down and click "Advanced Paper Selection...":

ex-d.JPG

From there, I click the "..." button next to "Paper Size" in the Advanced Paper Selection dialog:

ex-e.JPG

Original Document Size is set to Letter (8.5 x 11"):

ex-f.JPG

I change it to the correct size:

ex-g.JPG

.. Then click "OK", "OK", and "OK" again to close the 3 Xerox windows. Photoshop still shows 8.5 x 11" print preview:

ex-h.JPG

.. I rip my hair out.. Then I repeat the process:

1. Click Print Settings

2. Click Paper dropdown

3. Click Advanced Paper Selection

4. Click "..." next to Paper Size

5. RIP MORE HAIR OUT.. IT'S BACK TO 8.5 X 11" !!!:

ex-i.JPG

No matter how many different times I repeat this process, restart computer, restart photoshop, reinstall print driver, NOTHING WORKS. I just spent $3550 on this printer and I can't even use it! It keeps printing an 8.5 x 11" cropped section of my document onto my 13 x 18" paper! I've contacted Adobe and they say there is nothing they can do, as it is a problem with the DRIVER. Please help!!
