Re: Phaser 7760dx white horizontal streak on black (solid or step) page

Jump to solution
issue was fixed by Xerox technician.
the root cause of problem was the black color developer. it seems like the structure of developer for black color was not fine anymore, after replacing it, the printer works normally, no more white streaks across the page.

working with Xerox Support, they say a service is needed if troubleshooting steps do not resolve it, so I guess we need a Xerox tech on site to fix it ... we'll post back with results once I know more.

Yeah, I found similar troubleshooting step online in Xerox KB. I did all that and nothing, problem is still there.

and by cleaning the laser window, I didn't just insert the wand one time and removed it, I did it like 100 times quickly and something got cleaned up as wand tip was dirtier (more black instead of pure white), but problem is still there... imaging unit is new, toner is new.

I still don't know if it's possible the fuser can do that on only 1 color and not other, doubtful this is it, I removed it and it looks good as new.

Phaser 7760dx white horizontal streak on black (solid or step) page

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

Yesterday our printer started acting up. we noticed on most photos we print (catalogues, brochures, etc.)

We have a single fading white streak going horizontally across the Letter page around center.

I have printed Troubleshooting Solid Fill pages and the white streak is present on black page only, other colors are perfect and unaffected.

Since black toner was Low Level already I went ahead and replaced it with a new one. no improvement.

Printed the Repeating Error page (even though problem only repeats once per page) and figured it could be the Imaging Unit (also coming close to end of life), so I replaced it. no help.

Then I checked the Waste Cartridge, it seemed almost full on black and cyan and still half empty on magenta and yellow. since this one was past due (at 32k imrpessions now while it should have been replaced at 27k impressions), I went ahead and replaced it. I also cleaned the Laser Windows. no improvement...

Then I thought, maybe the Fuser is going bad or got dirty? kinda weird, because it should leave the imprint on all Solid Color Fill pages, not only on the black one...

regarldess, I used the Printer Cleaning Pages (for fuser I think), printer spit out like 5 of them and it used the 11x17 paper for that purpose. still no luck. problem persists.

Does anybody have any idea what went wrong with it? I notified Xerox Support about the problem, but haven't received a reply yet. Was wondering if maybe somebody around here knows what is going on.

This is what the Solid Fill (Black) Page looks like:

This is how the Black Step page looks like:

All others (both solid and step) are perfectly fine.

Thanks.
