Re: Phaser 7800GX restarts often

Hi jmparks,

Thank you for using the Support Forum. Make sure you are loading the paper properly and that you are following the steps to tell the machine what paper is in the tray - see steps 9-11.  Try disabling the power save settings to see if that helps with the power cycling.  Make sure the printer is plugged into a dedicated outlet and not an extension cord.

For the PDF issue try the following:

Make Sure the Print as Image Option is Selected

NOTE: The following solution is only applicable if the PostScript (PS) driver is used to send the print job from the workstation.

  1. Open the PDF document to be printed in the Adobe Acrobat application on the workstation.
  2. Select [Print] from the File menu. The Print window will be displayed.
  3. Click on the [Advanced] button.
  4. Click on the [Print as image] check box.
  5. Click [OK] twice to print the document.

If these options do not help please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.

Thanks,

Phaser 7800GX restarts often

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

I have a Phaser 7800GX which sees a lot of use.  There are two problems.  The biggest is that when you open and close a paper tray the printer will not work again until it shuts down automatically and restarts (a 5 minute process).  The other problem is that many .pdf files cause this printer to hang up for awhile, then it automatically restarts.  Everybody that uses this printer is terribly frustrated wtih it.  Any suggestions?  Thank you.
