THanks a lot!
1) you dont loose any function, it improves network speed actually :)
the only downside is that you dont know the status of the machine anymore, like paper tray status... but thats about it...
2) you have 3 gpd, and yes, the gpd is most uptpdate , but you need to download the gpd PS driver, not the Pcl or pcl6 one
What function or features do I lose if I turn off bi-directional? I turned it off and seems to print fine without the pop up now, thanks for that.
Does it matter which driver I use, the GPD or the model specific one? I assume the GPD since it is newer.
The GPD says PCL, should I disable PCL printing in the settings? Is there any down side by not using PCL ? I have read some about printer protocols but it is still confusing to me.
Thanks a lot!
for the first to, if you open up the driver properties of the driver, goto the config tab and disable bidirectional setup
as for the error page, that seems pcl data, your xerox is a PS printer, you can better use PS for phaser models instead of pcl
Hello, I'm using a 2008 R2 printer server and all windows 7 64bit clients, when printing I get different problems with different drivers on the print server, hope someone can help me out.
Using the Global Print Driver and the model specific driver that I can find, when I have the model specific driver in use everytime I print, a box pops up saying that "printer status is not available at this time", but it prints fine and I can bring up the printer status without issue.
When I switch to the GPD that goes away but I get a orange double arrow icon in the systray and the following box, again things print fine physically:
Also sometimes I get this cover page when printing from Word from some users, no idea where it is coming from. I have looked through every setting on the print server and on the printer it self.
Thanks!
Fred
