Re: Print Drivers for 7435 Work Centre (Built In Controller)

The GPD dropped support for the 74XX products, 5.585.13.9 or older has it, so your driver (if current) is using incorrect coding for your device, and therefore the print is garbage.

Xerox stopped distributing the GPD with an installer about 6 months ago, we were told it is because the GPD is for administrators, and they are expected to know how to install the driver, while the Web Installers on Xerox.com are there for end users. It doesn't make sense to me, I always ran the exe file just to get it extracted to C:\Xerox then killed the installer and did it all manually anyway, it wasn't exactly a hindrance, but alas, I'm not a developer and have no say anyway.

All Win7 drivers work with Win10, but Win10 drivers (V4 ones) don't work with Win7

These should be what you need.

Print Drivers for 7435 Work Centre (Built In Controller)

Product Name: WorkCentre 7425/7428/7435
Operating System: Windows 10 x64

Hello there.  We just got a new user who has a Windows 10 operating system.  They mapped to the existing driver (post script) for our 7435 machine with built in controller.  Whenever they submit a print, it takes a bit longer than other users, but does eventually print.  However, we get an ERROR:  undefined, followed by OFFENDING COMMAND:, followed by STACK: printed on an additional sheet that comes from the machine.

So we went to the Xerox website under Drivers & Downloads for this machine and found drivers.

https://www.support.xerox.com/support/workcentre-7425-7428-7435/downloads/enus.html?operatingSystem=...

However, we recalled that we had previously mapped the other users to this machine using the X-GPD files which include the download & install (*.exe file), not just zipped driver file, which then rolls right into the Windows Add Printer Wizard.  The post script one can be found at

https://www.support.xerox.com/support/global-printer-driver/file-download/enus.html?contentId=134630

and the PCL6 one at

https://www.support.xerox.com/support/global-printer-driver/file-download/enus.html?contentId=123353

But we only found these because we searched on X-GPD  executable files on the Xerox website.  So my questions are:

  • What might be causing our original error on the Windows 10 machine using the post script driver?
  • How do we find the various X-GPD executable files that are available for this machine if we cannot map to a list of available ones on the Xerox website (like the driver zip files we found in the first search)? Again, we only found the X-GPD.exe files because we performed a string match search on the X-GPD name.  I am not sure the ones we came up with from the search are the latest.
  • Is there a version of X-GPD.exe that will work for Windows 7, 8, 8.1, & 10 machines?

Thank you.

Regards,

johnnyd
