Re: Printer REFUSES to Follow Settings Either from Font Panel or Application.

Great suggestion except I bought the printer from Staples.  Since that did not generate a "Xerox invoice number" Xerox refused to provide support, even when it was still in warranty.  So if there is no user with a solution, I am simply SOL.  Just another reason there will never be another Xerox product here: unless you buy direct from them and NOT a "Xerox retailer" ther product will have zero manufacturer support.

Hello wmcole,

Sounds like you have tried everything already, so I would recommend you speak with a network specialist at: 1-800-821-2797 or 1-800-835-6100.

Printer REFUSES to Follow Settings Either from Font Panel or Application.

Product Name: Phaser 6510
Operating System: Windows 10 x64

First, the "Printer Properties", even after deleting all (four) xerox drivers and reinstalling the latest (XeroxSmartStart_1.6.26.0) when I open the properties during an attempt to print a "Statement (5.5" x 8.5")" document, it says my default settings are an odd cusome size I set up years ago that is used only with the bypass tray.  It takes 3 - 4 attempts at the "change size->Fit to New Paper Size->Statement (5.5" x 8.5")" before the chosen size shows in the "Printing Options" tab "Paper" dialog box.  So, OK, the  size is set, hit the OK button then print in the Word printing dialog and the printer starts complaining that the I need to load 5.5" x 8.5" into the BYPASS TRAY despite the fact that I already set Tray 1 paper size to Statement, AND set Tray 1 to default.

If I "obey the printer" and put the paper in the Bypass tray, it then tells me it is NOT the default Bypass size (a custom size I set up years ago) when, in fact, by the front panel it is set to COM10 envelope!  If I hit "OK" to print anyway, it grabs a peice of paper, inserts about 0.25 inches and declares a paper jam no matter which peice of statement size media I use.

Further, the driver is "stuck" presenting "Default Settings" for "Paper" that are not. I set them to what the factory default should be (Letter, white, plain). Instead it is a custom size that I NEVER use in the default Tray 1 AND THE RESET REFUSES TO "RESET" AND THERE IS NO WAY TO SET THE "Default Settings" TO THEIR PROPER / DESIRED VALUES.

In all my 50 + years of using computers and their printers, even ones from rinky-dink companies that no longer exist I HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED SUCH BUGGY, POORLY DESIGNED AND EXECUTED PRINTER DRIVERS AS THOSE PRODUCED BY XEROX!  They apparently leave driver creation to Jr High summer interns!   How does a Xerox software manager NOT FIRE THE INCOMPETENT that is responsible for these drivers?
