Re: Printer asks for confirmation of paper size in manual feed tray.

Jump to solution

Hello,
first of all - forwarding the question to someone else does not solve the problem....

But anyway - I asked the someone else - German support.
Printer: workcentre 6515, newest firmware (10/2022)

To make it short:
The printer forces you to set or at least confirm the paper settings every time you change paper. According to support this is useful to avoid paper jams. Therefore there is no workaround. The fact that other manufacturers can do it was not an argument for the support staff ("I don't care").

The reasoning is surprising, since I am using the Windows printer driver to set the printing options and paper size correctly. Therefore ignoring these settings and asking a confirmation is pointless.
My solution was to send the printer back.

I think the support has not understood until today, why the given process is unusable for the customer. Too bad, apart from this quirk the product is really good.

Greetings

We are also experiencing frustration with a VersaLink C505 and varied paper sizes in the bypass tray like labels, index cards, back of a check, etc.

Our prior printer from another manufacture would just print without needing to change a multitude of settings. The new xerox has us trying a number of combinations to get it to work. We love the color and output and will be much happier when we can figure this out. Any help would be appreciated.

I need to know how to get printer recognized by the support database. They say they have no record of my serial number. Do I just need to give the printter Internet access? If so, which ports?

Helllo there,

I see no one has responded to this post yet. So, at this point I would recommend contacting your local Xerox Support Department to speak with a Product Specialist for more assistance. Please call 1-800-821-2797 or 1-800-835-6100.

Thanks,

Xerox B215 Printer MFD

I print 8.5x5.5" mailing labels from the manual-feed tray. Regardless of any and all settings in the driver and/or printer, the display screen always pops a warnimg that the paper loaded is not the correct size, would I like to change it.

After hitting X and continue, it prints the label. Paper size, paper type, tray, bypass, setting the size in the printer config, all available options, in any combination of values, yields the same message! None of the available settings, no matter which combinatipns of settings values, make that message go away!

You might think bypass for the paper tray setting would do it, because on that setting it is supposed to just print on whatever paper is loaded. But, I still have to walk over to the printer, load a label in the manual-feed tray, walk back to my desk, print the label, walk back to the printer, clear the warning, and then it prints!

C'mon! There's got to be some wau to make it print without the warning! I can't use CenterWare, because ever since the network guy blocked Internet for the subnet the printers use, my administrator password won't work. I mean, the B215 web server is within the printer. I can see everything without an Internet connection to the printer. I just can't log in as the administrator.

The administrator name and password are stored in the web broser, with another password protecting all the logins stored there. So, it wasn't changed. No one uses the printer but me. How can I log in to CenterWare administrator accoumt. Connecting the printer to the Internet is much too dangerous!

Plus, CenterWare doesn't need Internet just for logging in and configuring the printer, OR DOES IT!!
Why would it need that?! I wonder! Maybe I should buy another one, connect it to the Internet, and have Hank (network guy) capture the traffic!

Finally, buying Xerox toner cartridges for a certain printer is not enough to have them work in the printer, because of digital booby traps! How can I make sure the toner I buy, made by Xerox for my printer model, will work in my printer?

Or is it always a crap.shoot? Is it like a lottery where the more catridges you purchase the greater the probability you'll get one that will actually work in the printer model it's made for? Because, I'm aware, if I innocemtly purchase the wrong one, Xerox will just tell me to stick it, like it has done to others on the forum!

Did you know Xerox invented electrostatic printing technology? Yes they did. So, let's see if they still support whqt they manufracture! Just the forum is a pretty strong indictment against Xerox Corp.!
