Printing Clear Dry Ink

Jump to solution

Greetings,

I am using a Xerox 1000 Color Press. In the past we have printed using the Clear Dry Ink feature, but now it doesn't seem to be working.

I have triple-checked all the design and print settings in InDesign; the object is composed of a 'Clear' spot color swatch, on a 'Clear' layer, and under attributes it is set to 'Overprint Fill.'

On the FreeFlow it is set to 'Use Clear Ink.'

In the past, these exact settings have always worked, but now it prints the clear with colored ink.

Suggestions?

I found a setting buried in the print properties of InDesign CS5. The Color Conversion settings under the export preset were changing my spot color to CMYK as a default. So I reset them, and everything works now.

This setting can be found in File_Adobe PDF Presets_Define. You then have to make a new profile and under the 'Outout' tab set Color Conversion to 'None.'
