Re: Printing User Roles

The machine cannot know who you are if you don't log in, so you cannot tell it to not let Steve print in Color, but allow Jeff to do it, it has no idea who Steve and Jeff even are.

You could setup Group Policies on a server, share out the drivers in such a way that the logged in user of the PC is the deciding factor on who gets to print color, but all the end user would need to do is install the driver locally to bypass that.

Hello.
Is it possible to block colored prints without the Accontoung Method using only the "roles"?

I use secure printing, and when I apply the accountinh method it requests the counting code, and this involves the process.

Ughh....

V4 drivers are far from my favorite thing.

So, you will have to right-click yours, and go to Xerox Printer Properties (If it doesn't exist, see below)

Then the option will/should be here

The Below:

V4 drivers are near useless on their own, they are meant to be run with companion applications, which add the ability to use and configure advanced features.

You can grab it here

you did what is in my screenshot 3 and the print drivers are properly installed it should only be prompting when color, but if it isn't, you can just do it in the driver via Start > Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click the printer and go to Printer Properties > Configuration and set it for only color

Re: Printing User Roles

Thank you for your help. But now it asks for userid every time i print black or color. But for black i can enter any userid and it'll print and for color only predefined user i made. So it works as i want to, but Is there any way to make it work so that when you print black and white it wont ask for user id at all.

And on some computers it doesnt ask for user id at all. Just blocks the jobs if they are color and lets them go if they are black and white.

Set the default in the driver and at the copier to be BW.

Then set XSA to only prompt for color via

Now when a user picks color at the copier or in the print driver, they will be prompted for the UserID to do so, else, it just works as normal.

Printing User Roles

Jump to solution
Product Name: VersaLink C7020/C7025/C7030 Multifunction Printer
Operating System: Windows 10 x64

Hello nice people of this forum

I have been trying to figure out the issue for a while now with no luck.

I would like to set up our Versalink C7030 printer so that anyone can print black and white and only specific users / computers can print in color.

Steps i've done so far.

  1. I went to web interface and created a user account Pcolor.
  2. Then i created printing user role Color where i allowed unlimited printing.
  3. And for basic printing user role I restricted to unlimited black and white printing.

Now i can't figure out how to tell my computer to print using Pcolor user. Everything i print comes out black and white. I tried using secure print and loging in to Pcolor user on printer itself prior to printing and it still prints black and white.

Which setting do i change on my computer to tell printer to print using Pcolor user ? Or how could i implement my simple task of printing black and white for everyone and allowing color only for some.

Thank you.
