Re: Printing envelopes

I followed the numerical sequence exact. No, it doesn't work. The 6515 is just a dysfunctional product. I'm totally disappointed and appalled at Xerox for selling this. I will never trust them again.

Ditto.  I wish I would have bought HP instead of a 6515.  The 6515 is almost useless.  It doesn't print #10 envelopes (and forget about trying to print custom sized envelopes - it just doesn'work.)  The 6515 is about worthless.  I'll trash it and buy another HP as soon as I can fit the expenditure into our office budget.

Re: Printing envelopes

A simple guide would be really helpful for many.

In word (latest version), I cannot print to a C5 envelpo size in the bypass tray without changing size in the driver.
On the printer side the dimensions are correct.(C5 set for bypass tray)

In word:

In the Mailings/Envelop/Options C5 is selected.
Also when reviewing settings after pressing print button for the document with addresses, teh C% size is shown under Settings. HOWEVER when looking in the printer proerties A4 is shown. Changing this changes it for subsequent documents I work on so seems dafty to have to chnage here for each document i work on.

When sending print job, it will not print as incorrect size (A4) instead of the C4 specified.

It MUST be possible to do this without changingthe printer properties each time. Could you please point me in the right direction? Maybe the settings ON the printer need changing? Many thanks!Work print settings jpg.jpgWork print settings _ Mailings setings envelopes.jpg

Yah.  Does not work.  The firmware enters an endless loop.  The first is that it indicates held for resources.  I remove and replace the No 10 envelopes (which should not be necessary.  It should be detected that the correct paper is in the ByPass tray.  Thenm the next screen is the "ByPass Tray Settings".... which show precisely the correct parameters "No 10 Envelope, Envelope, White".  Press OK.

Aaaand the firmware takes me right back to the "Required Resources" dialog.  This could go on for hours without resolution.

Oddly, I can even print almost anything to the envelope (including improperly sized documents) in the By Pass Tray EXCEPT envelopes!

The firmware does not recognize that the "User", the computer sending to the print spool, and the parameters confirmed at the printer are exactly the same.  And they are.

Really.  Terrible firmware.  And yes I have the latest version.  It occurs to me that the problem with international distribution is that the firmware does not work predicatbly in every location.

It is an annoying timesink.  The Support Centre is basically for newbies and did not have any actionable fixes.  Thius is a fundamental problem with the software.

Re: Printing envelopes

I am astounded that Xerox has manufactured and offered a printer that is so quirky and unreliable.  No reasonable mnemonics, reboots, menu edits are able to have this printer print envelopes correctly.  It will not print No 10 envelopes from the "Bypass Tray".  It will print other paper types ie Legal, Plain, Executive A4 (requiring the draconian confirmation of the papaer size and type on the menu), but it will not print envelopes.  The firmware on this unit is an abject failure.  The hardware appears fine but what use is it if the firmware cannot properly run the unit.  I cannot regret the purchase of this unit more.  I thought I was purchasing something higher quality and more durable than a Brother printer for example.....  and the hardware probably is.... but at least the Brother printers work (for a while).

Hi there,

Make sure you follow this process:

Note: Use the Xerox Global Printer Driver.

To print on envelopes using Microsoft Windows 7 / Windows 10 OS and MS Word 2016. Load envelopes in the Bypass Tray. See the Related Content for additional information.
1.From the computer, open the MS Word application.
2.Click on the Mailings tab on the application tool bar.
3.In Create, click on the Envelopes icon.
4.Enter the delivery address and return address in the fields provided.
5.Click on the Options button.
6.Click on the Envelopes Options tab and make sure the envelope size is Size 10.
7.Click on the Printing Options tab.
8.In the Feed method section, select the fifth (5th) method from the left, and then select the Face-up radio button.
9.Make sure the Clockwise Rotation check box is not selected.
10.Select Bypass Tray from the Feed from menu.
11.Click on OK.
12.Click on Print.

Re: Printing envelopes

Hello Dart,

The Held For Resources message usually means the tray settings and the driver settings for that tray do not match EXACTLY, therefore it will not print. Here is some information on tray settings for your device.

Product Name: VersaLink C405 Color Multifunction Printer
Operating System: Windows 7

When I try to use the by pass to print an envelope I got held for resources  No 10 env. it had an envelope in it already. I was able to use the bypass for labels.
