I am having a problem printing from our new Phaser 7100 directly from InDesign CS6. I have a Phaser 6600 at home, and have no problem printing any kind of layout directly from InDesign. (We got the 7100 because we wanted the tabloid size.)
On the 7100, I am able to print text-only pages and pages with a few rudimentary graphics. However, when I try to print a page with a table or something similar, nothing happens and I get a "completed job - error" message. The real fun begins when I try to print a page with photographic images. The job goes to the printer, but it prints a single line of characters and then continues to print blank pages one after the other. The only way to stop it is to flush the job.
I am able to print PDFs just fine. This has been my workaround so far. However, it would be good to be able to cut out this intermediate step and print directly from InDesign. Based on my good experience with the 6600, that's why we bought the 7100 with Postscript.
Anybody have any insight into this? Thanks.
If you have not already resolved this issue, we suggest you search our online knowledgebase for this product: Phaser 7100.
Alternatively, you can visit our Contact Us page for other support options.
I'm an engineer on the Phaser 7100 development team and don't have an immediate fix for you, but I would like to better understand your application so we can get you printing directly from InDesign. And I want to make sure this problem doesn't happen on any more products!
Would it be possible for you to upload an example attachment file that you're having problems with? Also any details regarding the driver version, operating system, job settings, etc. would be helpful too.
Are you seeing the "completed job - error" message on the printer or in the driver on your computer? Are there any fault codes shown on an Error History Report? (On the printer, press Menu, press OK for "Print Reports", arrow down to "Error History", and press OK twice)
If you called the 1-800 support number and they were able to fix the problem, would you post the solution?
