I know next to nothing about printing bar codes, but what i do know is that they are considered fonts, and Xerox develops their drivers to by default, replace what you send with the ones built into the printers, which in my experience creates pitfalls and no real benefit. So, if that is the case in your scenario.
Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers
Right-click the printer and choose Printing Preferences > Advanced
Change from this
To this
Apply > OK
It may fix it, and I've never once come across a scenario where it made something worse.
I have attached 2 pdf files, they are for a completely different printer, but the instructions apply to your as well, its a little more advanced and means you need to fill out forms to get the barcode fonts, and really mostly applies to SAP submitted hjobs, but, it can't hurt, and may do exactly what you need.
Thank you, finally managed to figure out our label printing software was set to default to paper, this is why the printer wouldnt allow printing on labels. We cahnged this in the software and it prints fine.
On a separate note, we are having some trouble printing barcodes, they come out slightly too bold or thick, is there any other setting to change apart from print density that might give a slightly less bold print without massively affecting the rest of the print quality?
It can't know what is in the tray, you have to tell it you loaded labels, it can only sense the size, doesn't matter what tray
Hello,
We are having issues printing on labels using tray 1. The printer does not always recognise our label sheets (usually around 140gsm) as labels and asks us to use the bypass tray. The bypass tray prints to quick (maybe recognises the paper type as something other than label) and therefore smudges the labels.
Where the labels are sometimes recognised in tray 1 they print perfectly.
I have tried adjusting settings using admin on the embedded web server to force the printer to print through tray 1 as labels only, but the printer still asks for bypass tray when tray 1 is used.
Is there a way to force the printer to print through tray 1 as labels always regardless of paper type as it is only label printing we purchsed this printer for.
