but if you can wait, next GPD release is in december
yes, always better to install latest GPD, with version number in it, that way you can also update your other xerox models
last drivers are verry stable and good
Thank you for your replies. I'll give this a try and test by installing the GPD with the version number. I'll let you know how it goes.
yes, thats possible
but still, if you install the GPD with the version next to it, clients that have the normal "global driver" installed, will also get warnings on client that driver needs to be updated, shouldnt be the case, but it will happen
Could I install the latest Global Print Driver on my server with the version number in the name instead?
Can my old version driver "Xerox Global Print driver PS" coexist with the new version "Xerox GPD PS Vx.x.x"?
simple answer, no :(
also if you have installed global driver and you are going to install specific drivers next to it, sometimes the same inf/config files are used
so users with the older driver are getting wndows warnings that they need to updated their driver, also if it hasnt changed :(
the correct way is to work with logon scripts or maybe a logoff script
at logof, delete the printer/queue, so at next logon install it again
Hello,
We're running a Windows 2008 R2 print server with different xerox printers (WC 3655, 5755, 5855, 5890, 7845 , D-110). All of them are using the Xerox Global Print Driver PCL6 or PS, version 5303.1600.0.0. We recently acquired a few WC 5955. We noticed that the model wasn't in the options available in our version of the Global Print driver. Since we cannot update the current Global Print drivers on our print server at this moment, we went ahead and installed the WC 5955's driver directly on the server. Everything was working fine for a few hours until we started receiving calls, because no one was able to print on any printers that used the Global Print Drivers. Somehow, the Global drivers got corrupted. We had to uninstall the WC 5955 driver and reinstall the Global Print drivers on the server. On the clients' computers, we had to manually flush everything related to Xerox drivers on them. In C:\Windows\System32\spool\prtprocs\x64, we had to delete all the folders from 1 to 499 and the Xrprt_b.dll. We weren't able to uninstall the drivers the usual way by using the UI.
Now my question is, Is there anyway to install the WC 5995 on my server and isolate it completly from my Global print drivers? I have a feeling that by installing the WC 5955's drivers, it updated/modified/deleted some files used by the Global Print Drivers.
Thank you.
