what you can try
first install a printer with a generic driver on lpt1
once the printer is created, change the port from lpt to a tcp port, then apply, then goto advanced tab and change the driver from generic to xerox
also make sure all drivers are deleted from print server properties, not only printers , then restart spooler
Hello - I believe I have solved my own problem. I was installing this on a XenApp server, but when I tried on a fresh Windows 2008 r2 server ( no XenApp) the install worked fine. I guess you cannot be a print server and xenapp server at the same time with this driver? But that is Ok I just happened to use a test xenapp server to test the new printer. This functionality is not really required.
Hello
I am trying to install the latest Xerox univeral printer driver to support a PHaser 3635MFP on Windows 2008 R2 (which is x64 of course) and am having a hard time. I get an error "printer driver was not installed. operation could not be completed (error 0x00000057)."
I have seen this before but forgot how I by-passed this. In fact I cannot even install the old driver, which was working before. somehow I got it installed and cannot recall how, and need to do it again.
I am installing this one: X-GPD_5.246.7.0_PCL5_x64.exe
Does anyone have advice for me?
- The current driver we use on Windows 2008 r2 is version 5216.1200.0.0 according to the console.
- The new one seems to be 5.246.7.0
Thanks
