Re: Problem printing in Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite)

Hi,

I have the exact same problem with a Phaser 8860. Deleting the printer and re-adding it by IP address worked for me also. Not that this causes the LPD protocal to be used rather than the default IPP protocol.

I recently got my Phaser 7760 working, via the Mavericks driver installer, in Yosemite, by changing the OSX version numbers in SystemVersion.plist (Hard drive->System->Library->CoreServices->SystemVersion.plist) to 10.9.5 so the installer programme thought it was in Mavericks, even when it was in Yosemite. After the install process, I changed SystemVersion.plist back again, to, in my case, 10.10.1

Let us know if that works for you too.

Well here I am replying to my own post. I did manage to find a work around: create an IP version of the printer rather than using the default Bonjour connection. Click the "IP" pane of "Add printer" and enter the IP address of your printer and then setup is the same... I did this and when printing to it it printed instantly. I have another hunch, I'm going to create the printer again as a Bonjour printer but first I'm going to repair permissions, maybe the permissions on the Xeros files in /Library/Printers/Xerox are screwed up (note it is /Library, not ~/Library). I had tons of problems with files in there in the past... you can install things in there and they don't replace older versions, the installer just silently does nothing... you have to physically go to that folder and delete out what you are installing, then run the installer to get a fresh copy... anyway, that's my hunch now, if that works I'll post back here, if I don't post back then it means it did not work and that presently making an IP flavor of the printer is the only work around.

Problem printing in Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite)

I have searched the net but have not found anyone with a similar issue yet and wondering if anyone else has encountered this and if so if they know of a work around, fix or the best way to report to Xerox so they can fix it (or Apple).

I just upgraded to Mac OS 10.10 from 10.9 and no printing to my Xerox Phaser 6360 does not work properly. By this I mean when I print it takes exactly 3 minutes from print time until something comes out of the printer. During that time the printer is not busy or even aware that anything has been printed to it. This is entirely within the OS. It is simply doing something for those three minutes. This has occured on both my computer and my wife's so it is not a specific problem with my particular machine... it is also not a general printing problem as I can print to a Brother 8870 (a much older printer btw) and it will print out immediately. I have deleted the print queue and recreated the printer within 10.10 to no avail. In the console I get this series of odd outputs. I have searched them but can't find the significance of what that might mean in relation to why this is happening:

Printing started at 22:03:28 and every 60 seconds it tries to do something and apparently fails, and on the third minute it prints.

Xerox does not yet have a 10.10 driver for this printer, only 10.6 - 10.9.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
