Thank you for this suggestion Gregmorin.  I recently purchased a Macbook Air with Yosemite (OS 10.10.2) and have a WorkCentre Pro 123 which does not have a compatible driver.  I tried using the pc scan and print drivers on the printers drivers, but it seems to only support a Windows OS.  Do you think your changing of the IP address could work for mine?  Frankly, I did not fully understand what you did or how to do it!

Do you or anyone else know what driver/solution can be used to print, scan etc with a Mac?  I don't know why Xerox doesn't make this driver.  I never had this problem with my Canon printers from years ago and hope Xerox can step up a bit.

We had one MacBook Pro (10.10.4) that was printing blank pages to our Xerox 5550DN. Tried many solutions but all failed. Here is what got us back in business. A hybrid of various options found around the web.

- uninstalled driver using xerox utility
- changed the systemversion.plist (system->library-.coreservices) to 10.6.2 had to fiddle with permissions to get that to work
- don’t restart it whacks everything
- downloaded older version driver 2.13  (vs. 2.14)
- installed driver
- setup printer as IP and not bonjour
- changed to LPD vs IPP protocol - i think that really was the critical step. My other computer (that would print) was set as LPD already when I went back and checked that detail. I would start with this switch first and may not need to do all the others. Not sure...

- be sure to change the systemversion.plist back to current version of OS.
My guess I could even use the 2.14 driver but not going to test that now. Going to leave it at working…..finally.

Hi Guys

I am having similar issues with My network printer / Photocopier Doc C3100

I have tried the following :

Connecting to it VIA IP address

used the Xerox firmware for MAC - dindt work - it wioll beep

Used PCL generic provided by MAC and didnt work - will print alot of pages that has numbers and letters on them

I have checked the logs on the printer and it state error 016-749. Abvioulsy the printer is using PCL but then why it wouldnt even work with the generic PCL driver or the xerox mac firmware ??

It is using LPD but i also tried HP socket with no rsults other than again printing rubbish

The printer works fine in windows

i have disabled the accounting function within the printer.

I have also revret to MAC 10.10.3 from 10.10.4 with no luck

I have tried to fix all premisions within mAC but again with no luck

I can creat PDF files so MAC printing software dopes work

Apple couldnt help me as they think it should work with treh generic soft at least

Help please

 Jason

I guess this means the driver for 10.10 is the same as the 10.9 driver - at least for printers with compatibility level 1. After more than one year (late April 2015) Xerox managed to deliver a 10.10 driver, probably by changing a line in the installer from 10.9 to 10.10? Now they are equally hard working on the compatibility level 3 driver.

I have issues printing to my Phaser 7750 from my Yosemite Mac Pro. The problem is it takes forever to print, regardless of how small the file is. Basically, when I look at the printer's spooling window, jobs say "ready to print" for 5-10 minutes. Eventually, the files print. The problem is no better when I use the IP printer set-up, and resetting the printing system from the Mac's System Preferences also doesn't help (these are the two solutions I've seen referenced often). Printing from an older Mac works fine. Anyone have any ideas to solve this issue?

Printing to an inkjet printer works fine. The problem is regardless of which app I print from. Once a job starts printing, all the rest of the jobs lined up print too. It just seems to take forever for the job to move from "ready to print" to the next step.

Update to my previous message:

Changing to direct IP using "HPJetdirect" connection does not solve 100% of the time. It delays sometimes and not others. When it does occur with HPJetdirect, the "CGContextErase" message also appears in the console.

I will try changing to an LDP connection.

Same exact problem as originally described right down to the console messages and timing. Solved by changing the connection method to HPJetdirect rather than LDP.

One additional note. The following message appears int the console immediately after the content is sent to the printer. This message does not appear when using IP printing.

4/16/15 10:16:54.389 AM _192_168_108_90[936]: The function ‘CGContextErase’ is obsolete and will be removed in an upcoming update. Unfortunately, this application, or a library it uses, is using this obsolete function, and is thereby contributing to an overall degradation of system performance.

cheers,

Similar problem on Workcenter 7556.  Cannot print or takes hours to print from MacBook Pro, no one with PC experiences delays or any problems with printing.

I tried deleting the printer and installing new manually and automatically with no results.  Installer detects the printer on the right IP and finishes installation successfully.  I can ping the IP of the printer without problems, BUT still cannot print.

THIS PROBLEM ONLY APPLIES TO MAC USERS......Apple really needs to learn how to work with other and NOT just apple products.
