Problems printing Pantone spot colors 7800GX

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

Our shop just purchased the Phaser 7800GX which is supposed to come pre-packaged with Pantone drivers. When printing documents that use Pantone spot colors, the printer just doesn't seem to handle the swatches! The colors are coming out completely off (gold printing as brown, maroon printing too dark). When I convert the swatches from Pantone spot to CMYK, the colors print fine.

Anyone have suggestions?
