Problems with Xerox Phaser 6510 printer

Product Name: Phaser 6510
Operating System: Windows 8 x64

I tried running the cleaning engine, hard reset and called Xerox who suggested I buy new drums. The printer is only about 7 months old with maybe 500 pages printed. I don't want to invest in 4 new and expensive drums if that's not the problem. Could it be that it just needs new toner cartridges? Trying to get some helpful advice. Thanks
