Hi blittle_stu
I am pretty sure it is impossible to eliminate the staple feature as it would eliminate the Finisher, and it seems it is impossible to buy this machine without one.
If you have a Freeflow Print Server you could go into the Queue Manager and every queue just go into Properties > Finishing and make sure staple is not on then click the little Lock icon, then it will eliminate the option before processing.
If you don't have a DFE and are printing straight to the device you are probably out of luck. I tried the Mobile Express and Global Print driver and neither could eliminate the Finisher, just choose Standard or Booklet maker, and both of those have, and therefore enable stapling.
I believe the 4110/4127 printer family has compatable print languages, you could try a driver from them and install it so that it has no finisher. It might work, but of course Xerox could not support any issue programming issues with that driver being used.
Also, is there an alternative fix to this where we could just simply alter the printing behavior of the D95 to release print jobs any way without holding the print jobs set for staples?
Thank you for your response. I've actually gone into those settings under the configuration tab and saw only "standard finisher" and booklet maker as options. Nothing that gave me a "disable" option. Under the preferences of the printer however, I could select "No Finishing" but still gives the various applications of the current user the pull-down options to staple their printed documents. This is the area we are looking to gray-out or not have at all. It doesn't seem to disable stapling.
Hi blittle_stu,
Thank you for using the Support Forum. Have you tried disabling the finisher option? That might get you the results you want if you do not need any of the finishing options. Please take a look at this solution to configure the finisher. If this does not help please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.
Hello,
We have Xerox D95s in our school's Library and we use a print tracking system called Pharos that deducts print jobs from student accounts whenever they print to the D95s.
The D95s came with the finishing units that can staple and our vendor gave us staples cartridges as a courtesy without us knowing. We were not aware that our students were able to see in Word, Powerpoint, or Adobe PDF Reader that they can staple document from their print widow as an option and so now once the jobs are released for a stapled job, the job will be held by the printer until the staple unit is replenished.
Now we never wanted the stapler as an option as we knew that our user-traffic is pretty high therefore adding another resource cost for us in terms of the printers' consumables. I tried looking at the printer's configuration settings to see if there was a way to disable the stapler from the Xerox web interface, but didn't see anything referring to the finisher's settings or features nor did I see any settings on the machine's config setup on the printers themselves.
Is there another way I can disable the printer's stapling feature as we do not refund jobs to students under any circumstances.
Thank you.
