Re: Registration issues using preprinted stock

Is it possible to turn off auto registration? I am overprinting black on a pre-printed full color shell, traditional offset, and the Versant's sensors may be trying to "correct" registration. I use the same PDF templates month in and month out and they jump all over the place. Both vertically and horizontally. Thanks!

Re: Registration issues using preprinted stock

Hi micdag,

Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please take a look at the article for the auto alignment procedure to see if that will help.  Make sure you have loaded the paper properly and that paper guides are up against the edges of the paper. Please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.

Thanks,

Re: Registration issues using preprinted stock

I've had the same issues myself...have spent alot of time looking at forums and google searches to try and find a solution. Was trying to print up covers of stuff from our site, like our stained floors  page, and it's giving me alot of hassle.

Registration issues using preprinted stock

Product Name: Xerox Versant 2100 Press
Operating System: Not Specified

This is my first experience using a Xerox machine and my first post to this forum. Please forgive me if this question has already been asked and answered.

We print 11x17 4-color process shells and then use the Versant to overprint customer information, primarily in black and 85% single sided. The print quality is excellent but I am experiencing serious registration issues. I have attached a video which demontrates this. The cut sheets I am feeding into the Versant are identically trimmed.

The tech from the company I purchased the printer from is stating that there is some sort of sensor that recognizes the color of the preprinted stock and then is attempting to make an adjustment to the registration. If this were the case, wouldn’t I see many more “adjusted” sheets in sequence instead of them being random?

Is anyone familiar with this issue? The mainframe had less than 50k impressions on it.

If this is a known issue, I am wondering if I can somehow disable the automatic “re-registration” and set it as some type of profile on the Fiery or the unit itself.

Thank you for any and all suggestions/assistance.
