Re: SBC board defected

Hello jrobinson

try to the software with altboot in the folder first, if the machine accepts the software, you will be lucky. if not, I suggest you to change the SBC board.

All the best,

Re: SBC board defected

Our AltaLink C8030 experienced this issue today. It is simply hung on "Please wait...the system is powering up. Do not press the power switch again while power up is in progress." and the 7-segment code on the back is showing 5.

Do we need to replace a component such as the SBC PWB board or try to attempt a USB software ALTBOOT recovery using the download and instructions provided earlier in this thread: Shown here

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried calling the billable parts department at 1-800-828-5881.

Re: SBC board defected

Hello,

I’m having a problem with my c8045. When I perform an ALTBOOT the software screen goes to the network controller and copy controller, then it reboots and stays on Xerox blue screen. It never gets to data encryption part. And the 7 segment on SBC show C. And D. Then just a decimal with no number or letter. What should I do ?

Hi,

First download the software for AltaLink C8045/55, AltaLink C8030/35, AltaLink C8070.

To prepare the USB thumb drive for an AltBoot restore, create an ALTBOOT folder, in the root directory. The folder name must be all uppercase. Next, using Notepad or similar utility, create a zero-length file in the ALTBOOT folder called FORCED_UPGRADE with no extension. Again, this file must reside in the ALTBOOT folder and be named exactly as shown. Finally, copy the latest firmware file (*.dlm) to the ALTBOOT folder.

  1. Turn the printer Off.

  2. Insert the prepared USB thumb drive in the USB Port on the printer’s rear panel.

  3. Turn the printer On. The printer reads the USB port and begins the restore process.

    1. The splash screen displays the ENERGY STAR logo while the printer reads the thumb drive.

    2. The restore process begins with Check Firmware Version being displayed.

    3. Next, the Software Upgrade screen is displayed. Depending on the system configuration (Trays, Finisher) the process can require approximately 20 minutes. The Software Upgrade screen changes to reflect the current subsystem being restored.

    4. After the firmware update process is complete, the AltBoot Complete screen is displayed instructing you to remove the USB thumb drive.

  4. Remove the USB thumb drive from the printer’s USB Port.

  5. Wait for the printer to reboot and return to Ready To Print.

Re: SBC board defected

Dear gabi
We change the second DDR ram , and the machine got working, then we updated the software to the last version. However after two days, the machine encountered same problem. This is the first time i see such problems in computer industry that a mainboard cause a RAM to be defected. So according to what you suggested , we have to replace the sbc board and two DDR rams as well, thus the question is that how can we make sure that if we change them, the problem will not happen again ? Just to let you know that the machine is new !!!
Your suggestion will be highly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,

I've had a feedback today about the Post Code 5 on the 7 segment on the SBC PWB at one client. It was a power surge and the machine doesn't boot up from then.
